Bernie, good points but I think I would also need drugs or alcohol to survive in the violent game of professional football, if I was crazy enough to do it. Even the great role model Brett Favre got addicted to pain killers and alcohol.

Mike, this new update in today's local paper in Pennsylvania= Terrel Owens already showed up two weeks late for the Bills voluntary early workout sessions. Also, teammate Marshawn Lynch just got suspended by the NFL for the first three games for breaking policy personal conduct policy rules. This is what i mean about the athletes of today. Some of them are spoiled and overpaid babies, who think they can do whatever they want, when they want, and do drugs and tote guns at will. Are these really the types of players the Vikings want? Really, i would'nt want Burress or Boldin on this team. I don't think it has anything to do with religion, what Zigy and Chilly expect from their players, as far as staying clean. I think the players have an obligation to the league when they sign their contracts, to abide by certain rules laid out by the league. I realize no one is perfect, but some of these guys get drugged up and drunk, time and time again, and consistently do stupid things by breaking the law. What ever happened to self-respect? When i was a kid, a lot of top athletes were looked up to and respected, now most of them are ridiculed, because of their conduct on and off the field.

Mike, Boldin isn't worth the 10 mil he's asking , because he thinks he's as good as Fitzgerald, but he's not. Even though Randy Moss gave the Vikings years of exciting catches, and hope of a Super Bowl, we all can agree that he had his own temper tandrems with Culpepper on so many occasions, and even gave up on pass patterns in the playoff games, which eventually led to his exit, so he himself was no angel on or off the field, smokin' pot and running into people with his SUV. Nowadays it would be real hard to find an NFL player without troubles on or off the field, in fact the only athlete in the last 20 or so years that was by far the most humble in any sport i've seen was Cal Ripken jr. Here's a guy who loved his sport, his family, his team and respected fans. He also donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities and never pouted on the field ,or disrespected other players. The NFL needs a few Cal Ripken -type players to regain respect from fans.
