What Does Sidney Rice Have in Common With Michael Jackson?

Sidney Rice is the latest NFL player to jump on the blogging bandwagon, through his site sidneyrice18.com.  Though he’s only been at it for a short time, Sidney has already rolled out at least one stunning revelation about himself:  like Michael Jackson in the early ’90s, Sidney sleeps in a hyperbaric chamber:

One thing that helps me recover after a tough game or practice is a hyperbaric chamber. I have one in my house.

I love it. I got it last year when I strained my quad. I was trying not to miss any practice time. I fell asleep in it and the injury went right away. Right now my back is sore from the first week of workouts, so I’m going to grab some snacks and go in the chamber. Sometimes I sleep in there for the whole night.

It cost about $22,000 but it’s worth it. Your body is a temple and I’m going to try to keep it as healthy as possible. I have to do all the small things to stay healthy, do whatever it takes. There’s nothing worse than sitting on the sidelines watching your teammates compete and you can’t do anything to help them.

Last year Sidney’s body was less like a temple and more like a crumbling ruin.  Not a ringing endorsement of the hyperbaric chamber.  But at least Sidney is committed. $22,000 for a chamber you lie in and it doesn’t even give you a tan?  That’s a man who’ll do anything – even something completely stupid and useless – to stay in shape.  I salute him.

After the QBs reacting like a “deer in headlights” and the right side of the O-line leaking like a sieve, the wheels on Sidney Rice were the third biggest disappointment.  I recommend less blogging and sleeping in chambers and more physical conditioning.
