Mining for news, rumors, speculation, anything Vikings draft related has become a little like looking for a sober Packer fan: a seeming exercise in futility. I did however manage to churn up one bit of opinion, from Sirus radio’s Gil Brandt via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, touching on possible Vikings draft target Phil Loadholt. According to Mr. Brandt, Loadholt, who has been rated as a 1st/2nd round tweener by most scouting reports, will get snapped up by someone in the first round. In other words, the Vikings may be looking at working a trade with someone in the bottom end of the first round, rather than the top end of the second round, if it is indeed their intention to slide a few spots and take Loadholt. The scuttlebutt, by the way, is that the Vikes are still furiously debating taking a right tackle or a wide receiver. But I stand by my completely unfounded conviction that Loadholt is their man.
