7 Days of Draftsmas: Vikings Mentioned in Jason Campbell Rumors

The Washington Redskins are evidently involved in an effort to trade up to the top 5 in the draft so they can select USC quarterback Mark Sanchez.  One scenario being bandied about has the ‘Skins swinging a deal with the Seahawks to move up to #4, taking Sanchez, then turning around and trading their current quarterback Jason Campbell to either the Vikings or Buccaneers.  As far as I know, this is all just internal discussion going on inside the Redskins organization; so far, there’s no suggestion that the Vikings have been approached about getting involved in some kind of deal.  But it is something to keep in mind as draft day draws nearer (and believe me, at this point, it can’t come soon enough).

Mike, I agree with you 100 percent, Cambell is no upgrade at QB for the Vikings. I happened  to see a few of the Redskins games on tv, and although Cambell showed a few signs of becoming a better QB in a couple quarters, he’s just too inconsistent. He makes a few big plays, only to add more bad plays later on as the game goes on. He’s an average QB at best. I agree with Dallas Dave about trying to draft Josh Freeman, what do we have to lose? I’m still not sold on Pat White as a great QB, just because I’ve seen this type of run-throw QB’s make the big impression early, you know, the Mike Vick’s, the Kordell Sewart’s and most recently, the Vince Young’s. They all had the same athletic abilities, and all had fast starts, only to fizzle shortly after that. Maybe White will be different, but if history repeats, then he’ll be another NFL QB wannabe.
