Adrian Peterson Says No to Madden Cover

Our very own Adrian Peterson was reportedly among the finalists to appear on the cover of the new edition of the Madden football video game (coming soon to a glitchy, overpriced video game system near you), but AD, perhaps fearing the infamous Madden curse, has elected to withdraw himself from consideration for that particular honor.  That leaves 8 players still in the running to succeed Brett Favre as the cover boy:  Steelers S Troy Polamalu, Colts QB Peyton Manning, Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald, Chiefs QB Matt Cassel, Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, Giants RB Brandon Jacobs, and Ravens S Ed Reed.  Matt Cassel?  Really?  One good season is all it takes to score the cover of Madden?  Wow, the standards over at EA have gone right down the tubes.

I would pick Cassel if they want to perpetuate the Madden curse.

Like the standard of pricing out the competition so you can cycle the same garbage game for a decade?

I’d say Cassel on the cover fits their standard perfectly: Pretty on the outside…but ugly once you start getting down to actually playing the game…

We’ll see how they both do in the coming year.

P.S. I haven’t bought Madden in about six years, so I’m allowed to bitch about it.

The last one I bought was ’06.  NFL 2k5 was a fantastic game – and it only cost 20 bucks!  So yeah, the exclusive deal that killed the 2k franchise was sad.  I seriously doubt I will ever buy Madden again, unless I become stinking rich (fat chance).

hey give me the tecmo/ superbowl game i played with my kid in the late 90s.  hey i’m 47 years old give me a break, i;m beyond the video era.

Oh man, 2k5 kicks ass to this day! Can you imagine what they could have done with that franchise on the 360?

It would be unreal…or surreal I guess is the word.

I have NFL 2k5, it’s best NFL game ever! I hate the effin madden games idk why i still buy it! Maybe cus it’s the only NFL football game left… *sigh* 2k was so much better!
