7 Days of Draftsmas: Rick Gosselin Shakes it Up

Rick Gosselin, aka The Goose, aka the Mock Drafter All the Mock Drafters Want to Be, has prognosticated via his final mock of the year that the Vikings will pull a shocker and use their #22 pick on Josh Freeman, quarterback out of Kansas State.  All due respect to Mr. Gosselin and his gigantic mock drafting reputation…but that is not going to happen.  Percy Harvin will swear off pot before Josh Freeman is a Viking.  Al Davis will admit he’s a drooling old fool before we see Freeman lining up under center for the Purple.  By the way, Gosselin thinks neither Percy Harvin nor Eben Britton will go in the first round.  I guarantee you at least one of those guys will go in the first 32.  Gosselin’s been passing the pipe with Percy.  Okay I’m gonna lay off the Percy Harvin pot jokes now.

All four NFL.com draft analysts agree that if the Vikings don’t take Harvin or Britton in the first round, nobody will.  They are just split on which one the Vikings will take.  The Vikings must not expend their only valuable draft pick on a long-term need at QB when they have desperate short-term needs at tackle and wide receiver that can be addressed now.

Ooops.  NFL.com draft analyst Pat Kirwan thinks the Vikings take Britton and the Ravens take Harvin (but you already said they want Nicks).

  • All Day 28

Harvin Harvin Harvin dammit  get him in Purple, not Ravens purple, Vikings Purple

  • Mike

Harvin would be great in purple, but if he is selected I now see little chance of even trading up to get a much needed good right tackle, since Britton, Loadholt, Beatty and Meredith will likely be selected soon thereafter.  The Vikings will have tremendous weapons but the O-line (minus Birk) will be unable to block for QB or Peterson.

Mike i guess its just me and you today threading, anyway, everyone keeps seeming to forget on the mock drafts that i see that have us choosing Alex Mack that we drafted John Sullivan last year in the 6th round to take over the Center duties. Hopefully he will be a good replacement since we have lost Birk. So i highly doubt we touch a Alex Mack or a guy like Unger from Oregon unless they are sitting there in the 2nd round. Well dang its about 45 mintues away from the draft, Im getting Excited, Go Viks
