Everyone’s weighing in on the Brett Favre return rumors, including Brett’s old teammate Mark “Hot-Tub” Chmura, who is of the opinion that Brett has played his last game in the NFL. “He will not be coming back,” Chmura told ESPN Radio Milwaukee. “Take that to the bank. He wishes he didn’t come back last year.”
Chmura says Favre has realized, after the way things ended with the Jets, that he isn’t the player he once was. “…I think he was embarrassed about last year, I really do. I think the embarrassing part was the way he finished. And I think he’s coming to the realization that hey, I can’t do this anymore. I can’t. I’m going to be 40 in October, and I just can’t do this and I’m starting to look a little foolish.”
Then again, if Favre played poorly the end of last year because of a biceps injury, and that injury can be healed, why couldn’t he then believe that he can come back stronger? You can play that both ways: either he’s embarrassed about last season and knows he’s done, or he’s embarrassed and doesn’t want to go out that way, and will try to play one more year to hopefully go out on top. It all boils down to the way his arm feels, which is why I don’t think this will be resolved until well into the summer. He will give it as much time as possible before making up his mind.
