ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that Vikings coach Brad Childress and former Packers quarterback Brett Favre will meet later this week at an “undisclosed location” and discuss the possibility of Favre joining Minnesota. Werder says there is already a “mutual understanding” that Favre would make up his mind about playing in time to participate fully in minicamps and training camp. The reporter’s source is a person with “direct knowledge of discussions between the two parties.” Possibly Favre himself, since we know Werder is one of his boys.
Obviously, this kicks the whole speculation situation up another notch. Actually, it kicks it up several notches. It really looks now like this could happen. Interesting that the Vikes would demand Favre show up for camp though. Maybe they think his failure to show up on time with the Jets impacted his performance during the season, and they’re hoping to get him fully prepared. More on this to come. A lot more. Too much more, probably.
