Report: Brad Childress and Brett Favre Will Meet

ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that Vikings coach Brad Childress and former Packers quarterback Brett Favre will meet later this week at an “undisclosed location” and discuss the possibility of Favre joining Minnesota.  Werder says there is already a “mutual understanding” that Favre would make up his mind about playing in time to participate fully in minicamps and training camp.  The reporter’s source is a person with “direct knowledge of discussions between the two parties.”  Possibly Favre himself, since we know Werder is one of his boys.

Obviously, this kicks the whole speculation situation up another notch.  Actually, it kicks it up several notches.  It really looks now like this could happen.  Interesting that the Vikes would demand Favre show up for camp though.  Maybe they think his failure to show up on time with the Jets impacted his performance during the season, and they’re hoping to get him fully prepared.  More on this to come.  A lot more.  Too much more, probably.

Allen is going to turn Cutler to dust this year.

  • danzinski

I am a Vikings fan and I would take Aaron Rodgers over Favre or Cutler.

  • Mike

Danzinski, not true Vikings fan would say such sacrilage.

  • jeege

I would have taken Favre over any QB the Vikes had circa 95-06.

Said it then and say it now: He’s better than anything currently on the roster…even at 80 percent! Even at 70!

Comparing Favre and Rodgers must account for Packers having good WRs:

Favre and Rodgers comparison must consider how play on Packers:

Packers QB    Comp  Att  Pct   Yds   Avg  TD Int Sck Rate
    Rodgers 2008  341   536  63.6  4038  7.5  28  13  34  93.8
    Favre 2007      356   535  66.5  4155  7.8  28  15  15  95.7

    Looks similar to me!

danny za-za (aka Fredo Corleone) is a confused ViQueens fan…for God’s sake he writes a Cubs Blog…doesn’t that make you Nordic Twinkie loving fools sick?!?!?!?   Frankly, though that is the only thing Fredo and I have in common, our love of the Cubs!!!  BEAR DOWN!!!

  • Mike

Why do some people assume Brett Favre will be the QB who played those last 5 games with the Jets with an inflamed bicep tendon?

                       Pct       TDs       INTs
    11 games    70.7%  20          13
    5 games       56%      2            9

Even thought he was thrown on a 4-12 Jets team, his numbers look like they did with Green Bay.

QB                      Comp  Att   Pct    Yds    Avg  TD Int Sck Rate
    Cutler 2008     384   616   62.3  4526  7.3   25   18  11  86
    Rodgers 2008  341   536  63.6  4038  7.5  28  13   34  93.8
    Favre 2007      356   535  66.5  4155  7.8   28  15   15  95.7
    Favre 2008
      first 11                                    70.7                       20   13        94
      last 5                                        56                              2      9        55

Why assume Favre will play like last year with torn bicep?
He now has time to lt it heal.  Elway won asuper bowl at 38
    with same injury.
