Not Everyone is Buying the Yahoo! Sports Favre Story

The sports media seem to have collectively given up on the Brett Favre-to-the-Vikings story, in the wake of a Yahoo Sports! report that had Farve calling the Vikes and telling them thanks but no thanks.  It may, however, be too soon to completely pack away dreams of Favre in purple.  The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel quotes league sources as saying “the interest on both sides was very real and still might be,” and goes on to say that many in the league are “still waiting to see what happens” as regards the Yahoo! Sports report.  And then there’s this from the ever-popular Bus Cook regarding Favre’s status:

Like anyone else he could always change his mind in the future about retiring. But I haven’t heard anything from him that that’s the case.

In other words, Brad Childress should keep a suitcase packed, just in case he is summoned to Mississippi.

I predict he signs just before the mandatory training camp (in June or July?).  Like usual, he doesn’t want to go to OTAs.  If he signs now, Childress looks bad for not being able to get him in camp.  I do believe the deal is done, although I wouldn’t say it is not a done deal.

Article agrees with me. Favre also retired last year to avoid mini-camps with Green Bay.
Is Favre comeback dead or just delayed?
