The surest sign yet that Brett Favre means to return to the NFL and sign with the Vikings: The Pioneer-Press‘s Charley Walters reports that Favre will meet Tuesday with Dr. James Andrews about undergoing a minor surgical procedure to relieve the torn tendon that has been causing him pain in his right arm. Walters says the surgery itself is expected to go down later this week, and will be followed by six to eight weeks of rehabilitation. He also cautions that, should the procedure not alleviate Favre’s pain, he would be left needing a major surgery that would all-but-end his NFL career.
Okay, okay, I know – Charley Walters is about as reliable a reporter as Tara Reid would be a housesitter. But, this time the story sounds well-sourced, not like the usual Shooter bullcrap. Conveniently for Favre, the 6-8 week rehab period will take him all the way into July, meaning he would miss minicamp. And he would be able to use the arm as an excuse to duck out on more activities I’m sure. I’m putting Favre-to-Vikings at 90%. We now await Bus Cook‘s standard denial.
