New Favre Story a Crock of Shoot(er)?

Little fly in the ointment with that new report about Brett Favre being set to have surgery later this week:  Judd Zulgad of the Star-Trib aka Fish Wrap Factory West Side of the River says his paper has been unable to confirm what Charley Walters’ sources are telling him.  Zulgad goes on to point out that the story could still be true, but cautions us not to get our hopes up, given all the other Favre stories that have turned out to be less-than-veracious once the light of reason was shone upon them.

There’s one element of the new story that will certainly give any observer of Twin Cities media pause:  the name Charley Walters on the byline.  Shooter has tried to sell us more bum steers over the last few years than almost anyone you can name.  Then again, a story this big constitutes a much larger potential blow to a guy’s reputation than one of Shooter’s usual openly speculative pieces, so one would hope he would have his ducks in a row before running with it.  The newspaper business is in enough trouble as it is.

I really wish Fav-re (who cannot even pronounce his own name correctly) would stop with all the petty games and other bloated ego garbage and just go away. Drama Queen is an understatement for this over the hill child.

I wish Packer fans like KJ would stay off this site.

You know it is funny when people say Favre should stop with the petty games. What games. That I am aware he has made no comments on the subject of returning other than stating that as of now he is retired. Most of the stuff reported is at best unsubstantioated. With this post I have commented more about him returning than he has. I guess I should stop my petty games too huh.

Yeah KJ I think the majority of us would kill to have Favre. Kinda harsh that you guys boot him out the door and then call him names for considering playing for a team that actually values having a HOF QB. Good luck with Rodgers.

  • Jim

Hey KJ, Rodgers blows.  He’ll be out of the NFL or a 3rd stringer in 2-3 years.  Welcome to 30 more years of mediocracy at best.

Who’s this “fake KJ” guy anyway, pickup on another name you green slime head. Breeze through posts and used my name huh?? Rat battard.
Sign Favre and open up AD, opponents go ahead and stack the box and… you’ll pay.

I think that Favre should play if he wants and all the speculation is what got Green Bay into the PR nightmare that erupted. He is a great quarterback, probably one of the best ever. Speaking as a true packer fan,  I can say I adored all the years he spent on this side of the creek. Show Green Bay asshole management what they missed out…or not. Ultimately he needs to decide if he is able and willing, not us.

We should be so lucky to have the HOFer.  I am still upset about how Brett was treated.  I would be happy if he could return for just two more games (against GB).
