Adrian Peterson: "I Do a Good Job Holding Onto the Ball"

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Adrian Peterson, during an appearance on behalf of the Special Olympics (they have really great bowlers I’m told), spoke about the fumbling problem that reared its head for him during the 2008 season: When I watched the film, it really wasn’t the guys, the blows they were hitting [me with]. It was me being careless with the ball, trying to go the extra yard. Get to the end zone, because that’s my mindset. There’s so many things I can work on. Fumbling the ball, that’s not my main concern at all. I do a good job holding onto the ball. [...]

Steve Mariucci: Brett Favre Consulted Physician at Vikings' Request

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: 25 Comments

An item from a Steve Mariucci live-chat on NFL.com possibly confirms – as if we really needed confirmation – that the Vikings have been speaking to Brett Favre about his shoulder: Keith, Ontario Steve, you seem to be one of the only TRUE authorities on Favre. As a huge supporter, can you please provide me with some factual information on his current position, i.e., are we going to be blessed with another season with Favre? Steve Mariucci We might be. He’s trying to determine if his shoulder is going to allow him to throw the ball well enough. Of course, [...]

First Look at Percy Harvin

AUTHOR: | IN: Video, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Percy Harvin made his sort-of-debut in a Vikings uniform Tuesday, participating in the first day of voluntary OTAs (voluntary in this case meaning rookies have to show up, but veterans can skip it if they want).  Vikings.com has been kind enough to put up some video of Percy on the practice field catching some balls and giving a short interview.  No vomiting or dehydration reported, so that’s good.

Werder Says No Surgery for Favre

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

ESPN big-shot Ed Werder has fired his bazooka into the face of Charley Walters‘ Brett Favre will have surgery this week report: Citing unnamed sources, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that Favre was to meet with Andrews on Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama, to discuss surgery on his throwing shoulder and that the procedure was expected to be performed later this week. Favre, however, remains focused on non-surgical options, including cortisone injections and natural movements like light throwing and bicep curls that might cause the tendon to release naturally, the source told ESPN. If the tendon releases and the pain [...]

New Favre Story a Crock of Shoot(er)?

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Little fly in the ointment with that new report about Brett Favre being set to have surgery later this week:  Judd Zulgad of the Star-Trib aka Fish Wrap Factory West Side of the River says his paper has been unable to confirm what Charley Walters’ sources are telling him.  Zulgad goes on to point out that the story could still be true, but cautions us not to get our hopes up, given all the other Favre stories that have turned out to be less-than-veracious once the light of reason was shone upon them. There’s one element of the new story [...]

Brett Favre Will Have Surgery on His Shoulder, Says the Pioneer-Press

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The surest sign yet that Brett Favre means to return to the NFL and sign with the Vikings:  The Pioneer-Press‘s Charley Walters reports that Favre will meet Tuesday with Dr. James Andrews about undergoing a minor surgical procedure to relieve the torn tendon that has been causing him pain in his right arm.  Walters says the surgery itself is expected to go down later this week, and will be followed by six to eight weeks of rehabilitation.  He also cautions that, should the procedure not alleviate Favre’s pain, he would be left needing a major surgery that would all-but-end his [...]

Rosenfels on Favre

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Sage Rosenfels kept it short and sweet when asked what he thinks of the prospect of Brett Favre being brought in to take the job he himself hasn’t had a chance to win yet: It doesn’t make any sense to comment on something that hasn’t happened. You may be a good quarterback Sage, but you’d never make it as a blogger.  Or an ESPN “insider.” And if Sage were to be honest about his feelings on the Favre talk?  I’m guessing he’d admit that he feels a little screwed over right now.  I’m sure we won’t hear any griping out [...]

Kenechi Udeze is Primed for a Comeback

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Kenechi Udeze is ready to make a comeback run, after missing the entire 2008 season while battling leukemia.  “I feel really good,” the defensive end told Sid Hartman. “I just recently had a physical with our team doctor. [Dr. Sheldon] Burns had me go through a stress test and everything was good, so I’m looking forward to joining the team as we get together here soon. “That’s the plan. I don’t know exactly what they’re going to have me doing, because they kind of want to ease me into this offseason minicamp schedule. Whatever they throw me into, I think [...]

Shoulder Specialist Doesn't Look at Favre's Arm, Says it Should be Fine

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Pioneer-Press‘s Sean Jensen spoke to a shoulder specialist who said that, at most, Brett Favre should only need minor surgery to repair the injury to his arm.  “This is a relatively good problem to have, if you’re going to have a shoulder problem,” said Dr. David Altchek, who works at a fancy hospital in New York helping old ladies with their tennis injuries.  Actually, that wasn’t fair – I have no idea if any of Mr. Altchek’s patients are in fact old ladies with tennis injuries.  It’s not right of me to make assumptions without having all the facts.  [...]

New Fansided.com Main Site

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Fansided.com has gotten rid of that ugly old main page of ours – sorry guys; it was ugly – and replaced it with a new, functional, rather snappy one.  This is where you will want to go to keep up with everything going on across the network:  the team blogs, lead editor Adam Best’s ravings, links to network friends like Hugging Harold Reynolds and Zoner Sports.  It’s very convenient and also nice to look at.  Like a really pretty blow-up doll.
