We appear to have officially entered the dog days of the off-season – a dead time between the draft and the beginning of minicamp where there’s really nothing substantive to talk about.  Oh, but ha ha – we’ve had the Brett Favre saga going on for the last couple of weeks; but now that appears to have dried up too, which only makes the dogginess seem doggier.  That’s okay – I was getting bored with the whole thing.  Not with the traffic – that’s been great – but the waiting around for tidbits of news to make something out of.  [...]

Chris Mortensen just put this up on Twitter: Favre has consulted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, regarding his options on biceps/shoulders…should be up soon on espn.com. Judge Paul Magnuson (no relation to the world’s strongest man dude) heard arguments from both sides today in the on-going Williams Wall banned substance case, and when it was over – shocker – he decided not to make a decision.  So that means…I don’t know what it means, as I am not a great legal mind.  The only thing that confuses me more than this stuff is medical things, e.g., whether an X-ray is useful in determining the severity of a torn biceps tendon injury.  Oh, and money.  And physics.  Okay, pretty much everything confuses me, which is why I [...]

GG Eden was the winner of the Michael Strahan football (just in case any of you remained in suspense about that).  Thanks to everyone who entered.  There were so many of you, I almost had to get a bigger hat to hold the drawing. Jared Allen took a break from killing varmints to chat with Jim Rome on his ESPN show.  Topics touched upon:  Brett Favre, Jared’s support of the USO, murdering coyotes with a blow-gun, how Jared finally realized he needed to grow up and stop drinking.  Dear Jim:  Everyone can tell you’re faking it when you bust a gut over stuff like a dead coyote on a dude’s head.  So stop.

Brett Favre has been seen working out with the Oak Grove High School team…so, ESPN figured, why not have Stuart Scott interview the quarterback from Oak Grove to find out how Brett’s been looking?  Yeah, this story is played out.  What’s next?  An interview with the guy who washes the team’s jock straps?
