Mortensen Via Twitter: Favre Reports "Dead On"
Vikings fans with a big Farve jones: take what comfort you will from this tweet by Chris Mortensen about the sudden doubts that have been cast on the last few days’ reports of a Favre-Childress meeting: Don’t think for one minute that any reports of scheduled visits, QB coach search by BF, and mutual interest are wrong. All are dead on. Of course, a lot of the reporting has been done by Mortensen’s ESPN colleagues Ed Werder and Rachel Nichols, so he could just be helping cover the butts of his pals. If it turns out all that stuff was [...]
Video: Brad Childress at Winter Park…This Morning
So did Brad Childress fly to Mississippi to meet Brett Favre last night per all those reports, or were all the rumors a load of bullpoo like Bus Cook said? If he did go to Mississippi, it must’ve been a short meeting, cause FOX 9 in Minneapolis has video of someone who looks an awful lot like Chilly walking into Vikings headquarters at Winter Park this morning. That’s gotta be one tired guy. Or, perhaps those “sources close to the team” everyone has been quoting the last couple of days are full of beans?
Jared Allen on Brett Favre (Video)
Prudent, measured remarks from Jared Allen on Brett Favre. He likes the idea, but then again, he thinks Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels can do the job too. Is it just me or did Jared call Brian Kenny “Mike” in there? Blow to Kenny’s ego.
Packers linebacker Nick Barnett attempted to post about Brett Favre on Twitter Wednesday, but things sort of got mixed up for Nick thanks to that silly 140 character limit the service imposes: Thoughts on frave… Well didn’t want to comment but hey anyways I think he should do what ever he feels is in his heart.. But once he puts Once he puts that purple He will become an enemy which is all part of the game.. It’s hard to imagine him doing that. But if it’s in his hea I guess Nick got tired after that second tweet. Heart? [...]
Maybe We're Imagining it All
Either Bus Cook is completely out of the loop or the news of the last couple days has all been some weird dream. Via USA Today: Brett Favre‘s agent James “Bus” Cook says that the quarterback is not reconsidering his second retirement in as many offseasons. Cook told USA TODAY Wednesday that, after speaking with Favre late Tuesday, “As far as I know, he is retired.” When asked about ESPN reports on Tuesday that the iconic quarterback plans to sit down this week with Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress to discuss a comeback following February retirement from the New [...]
Childress Leaves for Mississippi Wednesday Afternoon
I know you’ve all been waiting with bated breath for more news on Brad Childress‘s meeting with Brett Favre. Well, there’s more news finally: Access Vikings says Chilly will leave Minnesota Wednesday afternoon – no doubt someone will post a link to the site where you can track the flight – and have dinner with Favre. Then, on Thursday, the two will get down to brass tacks. Have no idea if tractor rides, fishing or hooking thumbs behind suspenders will be involved. Try to get that for you as soon as I can.
Video: Darren Sharper Says Favre Will Return
Everyone else has chimed in on Brett Favre, so why not Darren Sharper? For the record, Sharper thinks Favre is coming back to play for the Vikings. Thanks for your insight Darren. Now you can go back to painting your toenails while listening to Lady Gaga.
Among the numerous bits of news coming out about Brett Favre yesterday was an item that had Favre looking to hire a quarterbacks coach to work with him in Mississippi. Now, Chris Mortensen has fleshed out the report by explaining Favre’s motivation behind hiring the coach, posting on Twitter: Why #4 wants QB coach: Believes he needs to sharpen mechanics/fundamentals to compensate for diminishing physical skills. So Favre apparently isn’t convinced that his arm can come all the way back, and he wants to improve his footwork and the rest of it to make up for no longer being able [...]
NASCAR Comes to Fansided.com
With the Fansided.com sports network basically becoming a one-stop source for everything sports related, it was only a matter of time before we added a NASCAR blog to the mix. And now, with the launch of StockCarSpin, we have. Hopper – is there a better name for a NASCAR guy, short of Billy Bob? – is the lead blogger over there, and will have all the dirt on restrictor plates, pit strategy, on-track fist fights and the eternal question of whether Dale Junior will ever actually win another race. I know a few of you like NASCAR and will want [...]
Jay Glazer: Vikings Yet to Discuss Favre Internally
One might’ve thought, given news of the imminent summit meeting between Brett Favre and Brad Childress, that the Vikings organization was already decided on the issue of Favre joining the team. No so, according to FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer. Mr. Glazer says the Chilly-Favre meeting is just that, a meeting between two guys, and not necessarily a reflection of some collective organizational will. In fact, Glazer reports that the Vikings are split internally on the subject of Favre, and will still have to all get together and work out how they want to proceed. So, it appears that even [...]
