Brett Favre Will Talk to Joe Buck

The debut of Joe Buck‘s new HBO show will probably suck – it is, after all, going to be hosted by Joe Buck – but at least it will be newsworthy, thanks to an announced interview with probable future Vikings quarterback Brett Favre.  I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that Joe will be asking Brett about the swirl of rumors and speculation that have surrounded him like a hurricane these last couple of months; and I’m further going to guess that Brett will give very heartfelt and honest answers that neither confirm nor refute any of the aforementioned rumors.  In other words, if you’re looking for Brett to announce that he’s coming back with the Vikings Monday night on HBO, don’t bother.  That being said, I’m sure Brett will make plenty of the kinds of vague comments that provide fodder for the sort of reading between the lines that is the lifeblood of blogs like this one.  Should be interesting, even if ultimately nothing is resolved or even really clarified much.

In April 2008, three months before his unretirement, Favre hinted during a visit with David Letterman saying: “I think when training camp gets close, something’s bound to happen.” I don’t expect anything more here either.  I doubt Favre will tell Buck much other than his arm is recovering. And I hope he doesn’t give Joe Buck any scoop because he stinks!  He trashed Randy Moss for an innocent skit pretending to moon the Packers. He may have contributed to the Viking’s stupid trade of Moss. F*** Buck.

Oh great, Buck locked Favre in for the show in April, way before the Minnesota stuff popped up.  The show will have the theme of how athletes’ personal lives now draw the attention of tabloids and celebrity websites.  Maybe Favre will just say athletes’ personal lives shouldn’t draw the attention of tabloids and celebrity websites.
