Favre is approximately six weeks removed from the arthroscopic surgery Dr. James Andrews performed to release the partially torn biceps tendon in the quarterback’s right shoulder. While Favre’s recovery seems to be following the six- to eight-week rehab timetable that Andrews described, sources say that Favre had hoped the improvement would come sooner.

Last week, Darrell Bevell watched Favre throw passes in Mississippi. Favre thought his performance was encouraging but said he might be forced to delay a decision on whether to play until training camp. Favre said he wants to play for the Vikings but is still unable to commit because he wants to be completely confident he can play the entire season. Favre is proceeding cautiously because he remains somewhat concerned about the inconsistency of some throws and worries that he continues to have slight pain.

On a negative note, I can definitely see how the young woman became disturbed (as Dunzinski puts it). First, McNair spoils her with trips, VIP parties, condos and cars and tells her that he will divorce and marry her, all the while he likley is shagging her (as Dallas Dave would say). Then he dumps her by saying he will stay with his wife, even dating a third woman and pulling away the money. To any other QBs who are straight (ie Michael Vick), watch out what you promise!

On a positive note, Charley Waters says the signing of Brett Favre could come as early as Wednesday (especially if nothing interferes again like the tragic killing of Steve McNair).

Steve Thomas, who attended Southern Mississippi, says “Brett’s a fighter. You’ve got to admire the man. He’s been beat up and banged up, but he’s got the heart to play football. He’ll give you 110 percent.”

Chris Weinke, 36, 2000 Heisman Trophy winner and former Carolina Panthers QB, says ”Being a Minnesota boy and a Vikings fan my whole life, it will be great to see a purple No. 4 jersey….. He’s been able to do it over a long period of time, and I don’t see why he wouldn’t be able to continue that.”
