Antoine Winfield Will Likely Retire a Viking

Posted by: danzinski

After a bit of hemming and hawing, Antoine Winfield has at last gotten a contract extension from the Vikings.  The new deal will reportedly pay the Pro Bowl cornerback $36 million over five years, with $16.1 million in guaranteed money.  The big hang-up from the Vikings’ side was Antoine’s age – he’s 31, and would be 36 if he played till the end of the deal – but they covered themselves on that end by building a bunch of incentives into the contract.

Unless Antoine Winfield wants to play beyond 36, it appears he will get his wish and retire as a Viking.  This leaves very little unfinished business from the contract side of things:  the Vikes just need to sew up Phil Loadholt and Percy Harvin, and then get that quarterback guy from Mississippi taken care of, and we will be ready to roll.

            BallHype: hype it up!

Wow a positive note from danz, the last statement says get that quarterback guy from Mississippi take care of and then were ready to roll, Is he finally starting to drink the Favre Koolaid that Mike, Bernie, Jim, Me, and all the others have been aboard for the longest time ????

All Day, I didn’t see that as a positive statement, although at least finally Dunz wasn’t obviously negative.  I suspect ”get that quarterback guy from Mississippi taken care of” doesn’t mean get him but rather get rid of him.  Just look at the stupid poll he just put on the web site.
