I Guess I Have to Post This
I feel obligated to do a post on the story circulating that says Brett Favre will make up his mind by Friday whether to join the Vikings for the 2009 season. The source on this is some friends of Favre who supposedly know what’s in the quarterback’s head. These friends believe Favre will say yes to the Vikings. If he does give his answer by Friday, he will have a couple of days to get his stuff packed and get to Mankato for camp. Unless he has some kind of agreement with the Vikings saying he doesn’t have to show [...]
Chilly On Harvin's "Health Issues"
Brad Childress says he’s not worried about Percy Harvin‘s health after the rookie wideout’s two well-publicized emergencies, one of which caused him to be sent home from the recent rookie symposium (meaning he missed Cris Carter‘s sermon about not being a jag-off). “You always worry about health concerns and making sure you get those things taken care of,” Chilly said. “[Percy]’s going to be there next year and he may be even speaking next year because he’ll have a lap around the track at that point and time. He’ll be able to lend a different perspective for all those rookies.” [...]
Jared Allen Annoyed by Favre
For some people there is no downside whatsoever to the Favre saga. They have convinced themselves that pursuing the quarterback is an absolute good, a necessity and in fact a noble quest the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the days of King Arthur. Unfortunately, despite the beliefs of these delusional few, there is in fact a negative to the whole affair – the introduction of bad vibes into the Vikings locker room. The potential for this was already demonstrated a few weeks ago when Ray Edwards (bravely, given the profusion of Branch Favridians out there) spoke out about [...]
Matthew Stafford Has His Hair Done
New Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford gives us a behind-the-scenes look at his life as a sissyish pretty boy. “I think we’ll go with messy, that’ll be a good look for me on the red carpet.” Dude, are you a football player or a Jonas Brother? Haven’t Lions fans dealt with enough shame?
See What You've Done Brett?
Mourn4.com is a website dedicated to letting Packer fans vent their grief over their one-time idol Brett Favre‘s decision to pee on their hearts and join their hated rivals the Vikings. “We have a simple dream,” reads the site’s introductory message. “A dream where Packer fans across the nation turn black to mourn #4 turning Purple and Gold. Regardless of why it’s happening, it’s just plain wrong. And it makes us very sad.” And then you can shell out five bucks – or, in Packer fan language, five of the rectangular things you use to buy beers – for a [...]
This video of Adrian Peterson interacting with a fan while doing a photo shoot for ESPN the Magazine’s fantasy football issue is supposed to be adorable as hell, but to me it was horrifying. Get him down off that forklift! And what the hell is that pasty white dude doing holding him? And why is he punting? And how come I don’t see any armed guards around? And does anyone know if that facility had carbon monoxide detectors? My God man, you want AD to asphyxiate? Somebody get me a brown paper bag to breathe into.
Brad Childress Kisses Brett Favre's Butt Some More
Brett Favre has told the Vikings he will let them know by July 30th, the first day of training camp, whether he wants to play for them in 2009, and Brad Childress is apparently okay with this timetable. “He is pushing to see if he feels like he can make it back,” Chilly told Sid Hartman. “He is not going to play this game unless he can play the way that everybody is used to seeing him play, and it is a work in progress. “I know everyone gets concerned about, is it the fourth of July, is it the [...]
Brett Favre Will Give Vikings His Answer by July 30
It just flashed across ESPN that Brett Favre has told the Vikings he will inform them of his decision on returning by the start of training camp on July 30. And you can bet that, if Brett says he’ll give them his answer by the 30th, that means he’ll give it on the 30th, as close to midnight of the 31st as possible. It has long seemed a forgone conclusion that Favre would be signing with the Vikings, but, you know, there are no guarantees in life. I’m not saying it won’t happen, I’m just saying, I hope some people, [...]
T-Jack's Future
Little to no speculation has been hazarded as to what fate might await Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson should Minnesota sign Brett Favre to become their starter, mostly because, quite frankly, nobody really gives a crap. It does seem almost certain, though, that Jackson would no longer figure in the Vikings’ plans, making him a prime candidate to be traded. And, if NFL Network’s Mike Lombardi‘s report (via Rotoworld) is true, a trade is exactly what Tarvaris himself would want. Lombardi says he has been “hearing talk” that a Favre signing would bring about an immediate trade demand by T-Jack, who [...]
Favre Drama Probably Won't End This Week
Predictions that Brett Favre would sign with the Vikings ahead of July 20, the first day 2009 single-game tickets are available to the public, appear destined to go down in flames, just like most of our other guesses about the Favre drama. Now it looks likely that Favre will still not be signed by the 29th, the day the Vikings begin reporting for training camp. And what exactly is the hold-up? Apparently Brett is still not sure about his arm, which has reportedly been sore. Or maybe Brett just wants extra time to say goodbye to his lawn mowers. That’s [...]
