I feel obligated to do a post on the story circulating that says Brett Favre will make up his mind by Friday whether to join the Vikings for the 2009 season.  The source on this is some friends of Favre who supposedly know what’s in the quarterback’s head.  These friends believe Favre will say yes to the Vikings.  If he does give his answer by Friday, he will have a couple of days to get his stuff packed and get to Mankato for camp.  Unless he has some kind of agreement with the Vikings saying he doesn’t have to show [...]

Brad Childress says he’s not worried about Percy Harvin‘s health after the rookie wideout’s two well-publicized emergencies, one of which caused him to be sent home from the recent rookie symposium (meaning he missed Cris Carter‘s sermon about not being a jag-off). “You always worry about health concerns and making sure you get those things taken care of,” Chilly said. “[Percy]’s going to be there next year and he may be even speaking next year because he’ll have a lap around the track at that point and time. It just flashed across ESPN that Brett Favre has told the Vikings he will inform them of his decision on returning by the start of training camp on July 30.  And you can bet that, if Brett says he’ll give them his answer by the 30th, that means he’ll give it on the 30th, as close to midnight of the 31st as possible. Little to no speculation has been hazarded as to what fate might await Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson should Minnesota sign Brett Favre to become their starter, mostly because, quite frankly, nobody really gives a crap.  It does seem almost certain, though, that Jackson would no longer figure in the Vikings’ plans, making him a prime candidate to be traded.  And, if NFL Network’s Mike Lombardi‘s report (via Rotoworld) is true, a trade is exactly what Tarvaris himself would want.
