Berrian Says He's Fine

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Bernard Berrian tweaked his hamstring during the first quarter of the preseason opener Friday and had to get a ride on the cart from the sideline to the locker room.  Despite this dire image, Berrian says he’s OK, and Brad Childress says he’s fine.  My guess is we won’t be seeing much of him the rest of the preseason though.  No idea on Percy Harvin who was kept out of Friday’s game with a bad shoulder.  An injury riddled receiving corps was not what we had in mind.

Bernard Berrian Carted Off the Field

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Bernard Berrian has left the Vikings’ preseason opener with some sort of leg injury.  Kevin Seifert says the injury was serious enough for Berrian to be driven off on a cart.  This mars what has been a pretty impressive night for the Vikes offense.  Sage Rosenfels has looked crisp in two drives, hitting on all sorts of different patterns to receivers, tight ends and backs.  He seems to have command of the offense.  T-Jack looks great on the sideline with the headset on. The defense was pretty good too, sacking Peyton Manning thrice.  Most of the defensive starters have now [...]

Game Tweets

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Rather than bother posting anything on here during games, an exercise that usually leaves one feeling a step or two behind, I have elected to employ Twitter as my means of commentary.  It is more immediate, and it provides the opportunity for a certain live-chatty feel.  So, if you’d like, feel free to follow me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/acforever.  There will no doubt be thousands of fans tweeting during games this season, so it should be pretty crazy and fun, and at times even unpleasant. And you never know – some players might get in on the act too. Until [...]

Childress Trusts Sage to Start Preseason Game 1

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Brad Childress has chosen Sage Rosenfels to start the first game of the exhibition season Friday night against the Colts.  Prior statements by Chilly lead us to believe that Tarvaris Jackson will start game 2 regardless of how Sage looks in game 1. Sage will have one huge advantage against Indy:  the Colts have elected to bench their entire starting secondary for the whole game.  So, if Sage doesn’t pick Indy apart, or at least look really good against them…it will not reflect well on him. In other good news for Sage and T-Jack’s fragile psyches:  the Philadelphia Eagles have [...]

Cutler Threatening to Become a Pain in Chicago

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The love-affair between Jay Cutler and Chicago fans may still be in its first flushes, but the relationship between Cutler and his organization is already speeding straight for the rocks. This has nothing to do with Cutler being a pussy either…in fact, the problem is exactly the opposite.  Cutler has too much balls for his own good. Most guys, if they are new to an organization,  just try to come in, keep a low profile, do their job and hope to earn respect.  Not Cutler though.  In his world, if he’s the high-priced quarterback, he gets to start making demands [...]

Training Camp Closes

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 28 Comments

Brad Childress called off Wednesday afternoon’s practice, bringing training camp 2009 to an end.  The team will leave for Indianapolis on Thursday and begin the exhibition season Friday night against the Colts. The Vikings survived camp more-or-less intact health wise.  The biggest blemish was, of course, Tarvaris Jackson‘s knee injury, which caused him to miss a couple of days, but evidently didn’t cause him to fall behind Sage Rosenfels on the depth chart.  And then there was Brian Robison‘s injury which forced him to lose a week and possibly a chance to usurp Ray Edwards as the starting left end. [...]

Vikings Flag Giveaway

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Let’s say you’re a huge Vikings fan, and you want to show everyone in your neighborhood just how committed you are to the team.  You already tried painting yourself purple and running out in the street singing “Skol, Vikings” at the top of your lungs…and all that got you was a trip to the local jail.  You need something equally dramatic but somewhat more legal.  Something that will make people say, “That guy/gal’s a true Vikings fan,” but not reach for the phone to dial 911. I’ve got it!  Why not fly a Vikings flag up your flagpole!  Then everyone [...]

Percy Harvin Dinged in Practice

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Practice tweets are useless…unless they give us a chance to panic over the health of one of our star players, as happened this morning when the tweets started rolling out about Percy Harvin‘s injury.  Judd Zulgad reported: Percy Harvin is favoring his right shoulder after going to the ground following a nice catch in 7 on 7 Harvin made the catch between Abdullah and Colt Anderson and is going to tent to get looked at Harvin did not return to practice, but was seen doing stretching exercises with the other players, so I guess that’s good.  In related news, John [...]

Useless Training Camp Tweet o' the Day: Chip Scoggins

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

From the Star-Trib’s Chip Scoggins aka The Guy Who Isn’t Judd Zulgad comes our UTCTOTD: Sidney rice drops pass from jackson. Thinks that’s the first pass I’ve seen him drop in camp Somebody needs to take away Chip’s Blackberry or iPhone or whatever the hell he’s tweeting with.  And the same goes for every other reporter at every other training camp.  Practice tweets have officially passed plastic knives, third nipples and Lambeau Field toilets as the most useless things on the face of the earth.

Let Bobby Wade Decide

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

No decision has yet been made on which quarterback will start Friday night’s exhibition opener against the Colts, this according to Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. “That’s not my job to come in here and tell you who the starting quarterback is,” Bevell told reporters.  “Coach [Brad Childress] will tell you. We are in the process. We’re talking about it. Getting the exact reps with each and every guy, exactly how we want it to play out. I’m sure coach will tell you here pretty soon.” Either Chilly will tell us or Bobby Wade will. Just on the basis of number [...]
