“Sources close to the situation” have ended the suspense over who will be listed as the #2 quarterback behind Brett Favre for Sunday’s game in Cleveland.
It will be Tarvaris Jackson.
This means Sage Rosenfels, the guy the Vikings traded a 4th round pick for and signed to a three year contract, will be third-string. For one week at least.
Rosenfels has no one to blame but himself for this circumstance. He had a shot to win the #2 job, but played like crap in the final preseason game, handing the back-up role to T-Jack on a silver platter.
It probably didn’t hurt Jackson that he’s been in the offense a lot longer than Rosenfels, and that Brad Childress continues to have a hard-on for him.
Of course this is irrelevant, since Brett Favre never misses a snap. The only way T-Jack will play is if the Vikes get up 35 and Chilly decides to pull Favre.
