Berrian Will Play
Bernard Berrian was questionable going into today, but we now know he will be on the field when the Vikings kick off against the Browns. Berrian has battled a hamstring injury since early in preseason and has not gotten in the work he and Brett Favre would like. Let’s hope those two develop some fast chemistry. Two other receivers, Jaymar Johnson and newly-acquired Greg Lewis, are among the Vikings’ inactives. So is Sage Rosenfels, who is officially listed as the third QB. Fred Evans is also out. The Williams Wall, of course, is intact thanks to the courts. Rookie Alex [...]
Join the Conversation on Twitter
Twitter is more than just the Megan Fox of social networking sites…it also happens to be a hell of a lot of fun. I and loads of other football fans will be tweeting up a storm as the action begins rolling this afternoon. Why not join the party? Start yourself a Twitter account and follow me at http://twitter.com/acforever. And since you’ll get bored with my tweets in about five seconds, here are some more Vikings/football-related people you may want to follow: Common Man Dan Cole, radio personality: http://twitter.com/CommonManKFAN Carl Gerbschmidt, Packer rube: http://twitter.com/TheRealCarlG Bryant McKinnie, a man who needs no [...]
Week 1: Vikings at Browns – The Vindication Tour Begins
After the craziest off-season in memory, and a preseason rife with controversy and speculation, it is finally time for the Vikings to strap it on and play a real, honest-to-goodness regular season football game. It would not be an exaggeration to call this one of the most eagerly-anticipated season openers in Vikings history. That’s the level of excitement Brett Favre has brought to the franchise. We spent the entire off-season wondering, guessing, sifting through reports both accurate and erroneous, sometimes grumbling, sometimes outright getting angry – but none of that matters now. The day has come for Favre to take [...]
I Know the Suspense Was Killing You…
“Sources close to the situation” have ended the suspense over who will be listed as the #2 quarterback behind Brett Favre for Sunday’s game in Cleveland. It will be Tarvaris Jackson. This means Sage Rosenfels, the guy the Vikings traded a 4th round pick for and signed to a three year contract, will be third-string. For one week at least. Rosenfels has no one to blame but himself for this circumstance. He had a shot to win the #2 job, but played like crap in the final preseason game, handing the back-up role to T-Jack on a silver platter. It [...]
Someone Take Sean Salisbury's Cell Phone Away
Former Viking Sean Salisbury has been fired from his radio gig in Dallas for allegedly sending unwanted sexy text messages to one of the station’s female employees. This sexting incident marks a return to form for Salisbury, who had been quiet ever since being fired from ESPN for, among other things, showing women cell phone pictures of his penis. Recently, America’s first center for treating internet addiction was opened. Someone now needs to open a center for treating addiction to using one’s cell phone to ruin one’s career, and enroll Sean. Before it’s too late.
Video: Adrian Peterson Nike Pro Combat Commercial
Saw this last night during the Steelers/Titans game. Thought it was freaky but, unlike most shoe ads, pretty cool. AD‘s everywhere lately, and why not? He’s an awesome player. He has a pleasant personality. And, not to sound gay or anything, he ain’t exactly hard on the eyes. Not sure why he has to turn into a Gila monster at the end though.
No Williams Wall Suspension, I Guess
A ruling has been handed down in the StarCaps case, and by the looks of it, the Williams Wall has beaten the NFL and will not be suspended four games. At least I think that’s what this means. My ignorance of legal matters – thankfully, I haven’t had much experience with the insides of courtrooms, outside of jury duty – means I am entirely beholden to the opinions and conclusions of others when it comes to such stories. And the first person I go to is PFT’s Mike Florio, because he is a lawyer, and presumably knows what he’s talking [...]
Friday Linkage
Minnesota Momentum is a group of diehard Viking fans dedicated to getting a new stadium for the Purple. You can check out their website, and also follow them on Twitter. They’re looking at having some giveaways once they reach 1,000 followers on Twitter, so let’s start driving up that follower count. The Viking Ship is promising a music video for every game of the season. If the rest are as entertaining as the first, it should be a good feature. Waiting for Next Year was kind enough to invite me to post a bit about Sunday’s Browns game in their [...]
Hard Feelings Over Wade Release
Nobody knows if the abrupt release of Bobby Wade will cause any big problems in the Vikings locker room, but, one thing we already know is that Wade is not a happy camper. Wade himself has not come out with any statements about the way the Vikes treated him, but his agent Jerome Stanley has. “You’re defined by your behavior and what you do and not what you say,” Stanley told the media. “I’ll let you connect the dots.” Stanley was then asked if his remarks were directed at Brad Childress. He replied, “Wherever the decision came from. And we [...]
Favre Causing Trouble
It remains to be seen whether Brett Favre will turn out to be more trouble than he’s worth for the Vikings. If they win the Super Bowl? Then who cares how many people he rubs the wrong way. If they fall on their faces like a Packer fan on a halftime bathroom run? Different story. Favre himself has endeavored to rub some salve on any raw patches that might already have developed on the skins of his teammates. Recently, the QB called everyone together for a little State of the Brett address, and reportedly used the opportunity to apologize to [...]
