Ochocinco Threatens to Blow Vikings' Horn on Sunday

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

The ever-entertaining Chad Ochocinco has come up with a new bit:  tipping off ESPN’s Adam Schefter to what nutty touchdown celebration he has planned for the forthcoming game. Before last week’s contest, Chad tweeted at Schefter that he had something so big in mind it would surely get him fined.  Indeed, after hitting paydirt against the Lions, Chad headed to the sideline and threw on a snappy sombrero and poncho combo. True to his prediction, Chad has since been fined $30,000 by the league. Clearly not chastened by the hit to his wallet, Chad came right back with a defiant [...]

10 Points: Vikings Stumble in Arizona

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Lots to discuss this week, obviously… 1.  Everyone has their pet theory as to why the Vikings‘ running game has fallen off the table.  Some think it’s the downgrade from Matt Birk to John Sullivan.  Some believe Adrian Peterson is not picking out the holes.  Others point the finger at Steve Hutchinson‘s nagging back issues.  All those things are probably involved, but there’s one more factor that might be the biggest of all:  Lack of rhythm caused by Brad Childress and Darrell Bevell‘s new tendency to lean on Brett Favre.  I believe the Vikings would be a better running team [...]

These Guys Ain't the Lions, Seahawks or Bears

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday, Vikings | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

One thing had become obvious by the end of the first half of tonight’s game:  the Cardinals are a few notches above the teams the Vikings have been getting fat on. Kurt Warner is as wily as Brett Favre, and can be just as effective.  And when Anquan Boldin gets in the mood, he can still be one of the most dominating receivers in the league, as he proved by scoring a pair of touchdowns. As well as the Cards played, things could’ve been better for them, and worse for the Vikings.  Penalties and a huge Tim Hightower fumble helped [...]

Week 13: Vikings @ Cardinals – Prime Time Players

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Today’s Vikings-Cardinals tilt in Arizona was originally scheduled to go down starting at 3:15 central time, but because the Vikings are an elite team featuring two of the top offensive stars in the NFL, the league used their flex scheduling powers and gave the game a prime time showcase. This is wonderful validation for the Vikings and their position on the national sports landscape, but it bites for those of us who hate waiting all those extra hours to see our team in action. Thankfully, this year, the Vikings are a team worth waiting for.  They win, and do so [...]

Adrian Peterson is Faster Than Bernard Berrian

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Last Saturday, Viking running back Adrian Peterson received a ticket for driving his BMW 109 mph in a 55 mph zone in Edina, Minnesota. On Monday, Viking receiver Bernard Berrian was ticketed by the Minnesota State Patrol after being clocked at 104 while driving his Audi on Interstate 694. This clears up any doubt about which man is faster.  It’s Adrian Peterson, by 5 mph. It remains to be seen which man is dumber.  But both are clearly pretty dumb.

Injury Report Getting Alarmingly Long for Vikes

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

The talk earlier this week was about Kurt Warner possibly missing this Sunday’s game between the Vikings and Cardinals.  But now, the more pressing matter for the Vikings is their own long list of players who could be dinged up for, or even miss, the pivotal NFC showdown. Per Sean Jensen, the Friday injury report lists the following players as questionable:  Anthony Herrera, Visanthe Shiancoe, Chester Taylor and Antoine Winfield.  Herrera continues to deal with the after-effects of a concussion (I hope Hines Ward isn’t too unsympathetic), while Shiancoe and Taylor nurse rib injuries (Shiancoe’s was suffered on the touchdown [...]

Ryan Longwell Hit by Shrapnel from Tiger Woods Explosion

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

It must be awesome being acquaintances with Tiger Woods…until Tiger’s life blows up and you start getting peppered with debris. Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell has now seen both sides of the Tiger Woods connection equation.  He’s basked in the glow of being on the fringes of Tiger’s circle, and he’s found out how bad it can suck when Tiger does something naughty and people start shoving microphones in your face to get your take on it. Unfortunately for Longwell, even his family shall not be spared from the Tiger blowback. In a video posted on Yahoo’s Shutdown Corner, Longwell discusses [...]

Vikings Playoff Scenarios

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Figuring out playoff scenarios is like doing math:  too hard for an idiot like me. Thankfully, NFL Director of Media Relations Michael Signora has a twitter feed through which he sends out all the official scenarios as calculated by the brilliant minds at the NFL.  These scenarios are 100% guaranteed to be accurate. This weekend, the scenarios are in play for the 10-1 Vikings. Should the Vikings defeat the (probably Warner-less) Cardinals, they would clinch a playoff spot for the second straight season.  Should the Vikes win and the Packers lose to the Ravens, the Vikes would clinch the NFC [...]
