The full NFL schedule for 2010 won’t be released until tonight at 7 ET via NFL Network and NFL.com, but already we know which two teams will be featured in the league’s now-traditional Thursday night opener.
As expected, that match-up will pit the Vikings against the Saints in a rematch of the NFC Championship Game.
The general feeling is that the decision to feature the Vikes on opening night is a clear indication of the league’s confidence in Brett Favre returning for one more go.
Wouldn’t it be funny, then, if Brett decided to throw everyone a curveball and not return, turning the league’s showcase game into a match-up between Drew Brees and Tarvaris Jackson?
Maybe not too funny to people who think the Vikes’ only chance of making it deep in the playoffs again is by Favre carrying them there.
I wouldn’t worry too much, Favre Fans. There’s about a 0% chance of anyone other than Favre being the starting QB for the Vikes this season. And a 100% chance of the season opener being one of the most over-hyped games in the history of sports.
