Jimmy Clausen Could Slide to Vikings

Jimmy Clausen is looking like the Brady Quinn of the 2010 Draft.

Some thought Clausen could go as high as the top 10, but when the first 10 picks were over, Clausen was still on the board.

A flurry of trades followed. When those picks were finally taken, Clausen found himself still waiting.

Then came the 49ers at 17. They’re not exactly loaded with talent at QB, and to get a guy like Clausen in the middle of the first round seemed like a good value pick.

The 49ers ultimately went with tackle Mike Iupati. And Clausen? It looks like he’s bound for the bottom of the first round…

Where the Vikings will be sitting, possibly hoping to draft a franchise QB for the future. Or not.

Personally, I think if a talent of Clausen’s caliber is available at the end of the first round, you almost have to take him. Unless you have a quarterback you think will be starting for the next 7 years. Which the Vikings do not.
