I am really confused with the Vikes right now. If last season taught us anything, it was that their d-backs are really weak and a good QB can pick the Vike's D apart. With such a strong D-line, with Favre, Peterson, Harvin, a solid O-line, and some decent LBs, what are they screwing around for? Time to stop passing up quality safeties and CBs.

After looking at more highlight films, I can see why Rick Gosselin thinks Taylor Mays will likely be a better pro than college player. He style is very violent like Ronnie Lott or Steve Atwater. He does things that will be more tolerated in the pros.

He would be best for a zone team, like the Vikings, where he could play deep and lurk as an intimidator over the middle.

He is working to become a more consistent tackler, wrapping up ball carriers instead of going for the big hit, improving back pedaling, changing directions, turning hips, staying lower so more fluid and going for the INT.

But his game is still the same - get to the ball quickly and blow it up when he gets there - the exact opposite of Madieu Williams - who runs over to tackle Jay Cutler and gets leveled.

St Paul Pioneer Press reporter Charlie Walters writes: With the top five cornerbacks already gone, it would seem the Vikings will wait until later in the second round for a CB … The top corners still available are similarly rated, so the Vikings probably could get one with their No. 62 pick.

(Could) choose an offensive lineman, … Saffold can play guard or tackle.

The Vikings also could choose a defensive tackle …. Brian Price

OLB Sergio Kindle …. Outside linebacker isn't a priority for Vikings, but they might feel he's too good to pass.

safety Taylor Mays is available. Physically, Mays looks like Superman, and he'll make a highlight reel hit on one play but then get burned on the next.

(I really enjoy the highlight films of Taylor Mays. Mays collides into receivers with his 6-3, 230 lbs body at 4.3-40 speed, knocking the living crap out of them. The Vikings could really use a player that puts fear into receivers.)
