I am now on record against Vikings passing on next Ronnie Lott

The Vikings will come to regret their first pick, passing on free safety Taylor Mays (who was needed to replace Madieu Williams in their zone D). Instead, they reached to get to cornerback Chris Cook. I agree they needed a corner but I would have traded up to get Cook in middle second round, and passed on Toby Gerhart (a wish of RB coach Eric Bienemy). DE Griffen was a good value pick in the fourth. But OT Chris Degeare in the fifth and WR Joe Webb in the sixth were low rated. If they didn’t think Albert Young was a good enough power back, instead of Gerhart, I would have taken in the fifth round an almost as high rated power RB from Jonathan Dwyer, Anthony Dixon or Charles Scott. Then, they could have drafted a different offensive lineman in the sixth round and pass on Webb if they couldn’t get him in the seventh.
