Brett Favre Thinks Brad Childress is Clueless

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

To all the Vikings fans out there who think Brad Childress is a nincompoop who only has a job today because he lucked into Brett Favre:  You’re not alone. Evidently, Brett Favre himself agrees with you.  And so do most of his Vikings teammates. This less-than-shocking revelation comes to us via a Yahoo! report that mostly quotes a single unnamed Viking player.  This player claims that Childress has almost no respect in the locker room, thanks largely to incidents like the other day when, for reasons known only to Childress himself, he ordered a couple of his assistants to lie [...]

Brett Favre: Tolerating the Circus

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

By Jon Merckle General George Patton was a great United States Army officer who had a great feel for the pattern of the battle. Any war historian can tell you on his leadership of commanding corps and armies during World War II throughout parts of North Africa and many parts of Europe. Patton’s military accomplishments are unparalleled. He was the youngest ever U.S. Army “Master of the Sword”, the 1st American to take a motor vehicle into combat, participated in dispersing the 1932 Bonus March and was an excellent transocean sailor. But Patton was also a diva. He hated a [...]

Brett Favre Says 2010 Season Will be His Last

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Don’t laugh, but Brett Favre just promised everyone in his press conference that the 2010 season, his 20th in the NFL, will be his last. I’m sure this statement will not elicit a single groan, nor inspire a single sarcastic remark. Video of the presser will be posted here as soon as I get my hands on some embed code.  Besides the retirement “promise,” the big talker is that Favre says his ankle doesn’t feel as good as he hoped, but he’s ready to roll despite the pain he knows he will experience. That’s why he’s a 99 for toughness [...]

Bernard Berrian Says Hutchinson-Allen-Longwell Trip Was “Just for Show”

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Brett Favre is back with the Vikings, and we have Steve Hutchinson, Jared Allen and Ryan Longwell to thank. Without those three guys undertaking their diplomatic mission to Hattiesburg on Monday, Favre would still be back there sipping iced tea and watching his grass grow, not preparing for his 20th season as an NFL quarterback and 2nd with the Vikings. It makes a good story, anyway.  Unfortunately, not everyone is buying this Hutch-Jared-Longwell hero myth. The skeptics claim that Favre was always going to come back, and all those guys really did was stroke his ego a tad, and give [...]

Jaymar Johnson Loses Roster Spot to Brett Favre

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

When he’s an old man, Jaymar Johnson can tell his grandkids he once got dumped to make room for Brett Favre.  Today the receiver was placed on the waived/injured list, and Favre was officially promoted to the active roster. Those stories for the grandkids are down the road though.  Today, Jaymar is just another marginal NFL player without a team. Sadly for Johnson, an injury contributed to his becoming odd-man-out in the roster shuffle.  The receiver broke his thumb being tackled during a punt return on Saturday, and will reportedly need surgery that will keep him out 6-8 weeks. As [...]

Brett Favre Arrives at Winter Park

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Brett Favre is back at Vikings headquarters in Winter Park, after a whole dramatic afternoon filled with FlightAware page refreshes, shaky images of runways and helicopter shots of black SUVs driving down Twin Cities streets. As of yet, Favre’s page has not posted the announcement they promised several hours ago.  It’s possible nothing will be officially released by the team until tomorrow. But, it surely looks like Brett Favre has returned to finish the quest for Super Bowl glory he began last year with the Vikings.  Hopefully, this year the quest will end with actual glory, and not just a [...]

Report: Brett Favre is on His Way to Minnesota

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

I don’t know what Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson and Ryan Longwell said to Brett Favre, but it seems to have worked.  Because, according to Scott Hanson of NFL Network, Favre has gotten on a plane and is flying north to Minnesota. Also, according to Joe Schmit of KSTP in Minneapolis, an announcement about Favre’s future is about to be posted on the quarterback’s website OfficialBrettFavre.com. Since I doubt Favre would fly all the way back to Minny just to say he’s quitting, my guess is that the announcement on the website will be that he is returning for the 2010 [...]

Vikings Send Three-Man Contingent to Mississippi to See Brett Favre

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Brett Favre situation may be soaring toward a resolution. The Star-Tribune is reporting that three Vikings players – Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson and Ryan Longwell – hopped on a private plane last night and flew to Mississippi to meet up with Favre.  This trip was surely made at the behest of Zygi Wilf and Brad Childress, who are no doubt anxious to have Favre give an answer one way or another. As of this AM, the three players involved in the great Favre expedition were not yet back at practice. Of course there is no way of knowing what [...]

The Vikings Contacted Jeff Garcia

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Despite the way things often look, it seems the Vikings do have an actual plan when it comes to the quarterback position. According to a new report, that plan at one point included Jeff Garcia. The story comes via the Gilroy (California) Dispatch, which quotes Garcia’s father Bobby talking about the opportunities that cropped up for his 40-year-old son this offseason – including one that might’ve brought him to the Vikings in the event of Brett Favre‘s retirement. “Minnesota had called [Jeff] and said ‘If Favre doesn’t play are you ready to go?,’” Bobby told the paper. “But, you know [...]

Adrian Peterson Stars With Gary Busey in Wacked-Out Vitaminwater Ad

AUTHOR: | IN: Video, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Okay this is pretty funny:  Gary Busey plays a lawyer who’s trying to help Adrian Peterson collect on being a fantasy football stud.  Can you say “odd couple?” Adrian’s lucky he’s pretty, cause if he had to get by on acting talent… No, I kid.  Adrian’s great.  Of course it helps that he doesn’t have to do anything but stand there while Busey acts like a complete nutball. Did I say “acts like a nutball?”  Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s not acting.
