Jared Allen has notched 30 sacks in 35 games as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, and after each and every one of them, he has celebrated by pretending to rope a calf.
Henceforth, however, whenever Jared takes down a quarterback, he will have to rein in his exuberance and forgo his now-famous calf-roping celebration. This by decree of the NFL, which all of a sudden has decided that pantomiming a rodeo move after a sack is forbidden.
How pretending to rope a calf is any different than pumping your fist or blowing kisses to heaven or jumping up and down like a maniac is beyond me. I’m sure the NFL will explain itself on this one…or not.
