Randy Moss may not have been a huge factor on the field Sunday afternoon, but many on the Vikings are nonetheless crediting him with pushing the team to victory.
It wasn’t anything Randy did between the white lines that has his teammates gushing. Rather, it was what he said to them – or, more properly, screamed at them – during halftime.
With the Vikings trailing 14-7 after another half of offensive ineptitude, Randy – a guy not exactly known for his leadership – reportedly took it upon himself to rally the troops. Nobody seems to want to repeat exactly what Randy said, but Brad Childress did offer a summary during his Monday press conference. “He kind of hit it right between the eyes in terms of what we needed to do to … win the second half,” Childress said.
In his post-game presser, Brett Favre indicated that certain four-letter words may have come into play in Randy’s speech. The quarterback also praised Moss for showing leadership in the face of imminent doom.
Perhaps as a result of Moss’s emotional words, the Vikings rallied in the second half to defeat the Cowboys and keep their playoff hopes alive. Moss may get the credit for firing up the guys, but Percy Harvin and the defense deserve most of the kudos for making it happen on the field.
And don’t forget to thank the Cowboys too. Yesterday’s win could never have happened without their playcalling ineptitude and utter lack of discipline.
