Overturned Visanthe Shiancoe TD Should’ve Stood, Says NFL

It’s a mere footnote now, but according to Brad Childress, NFL Director of Officiating Carl Johnson has admitted the officials goofed by overturning Visanthe Shiancoe‘s touchdown last night.

In his presser today, Chilly said he called the league to talk about the officiating against the Packers, and was informed by Johnson that the touchdown was in fact a touchdown.  Johnson expressed “disappointment” over the officials’ decision to reverse the call.

Had the touchdown stood, the Vikings would’ve taken a 21-14 lead.  As it was, they had to settle for a field goal and a 17-14 advantage going into the half.

All of this means nothing now of course.  The Vikings lost the game, they are 2-4, and they will likely have to face the Patriots with Tarvaris Jackson at quarterback.  The season is unraveling faster than Mel Gibson‘s career.
