NFL Orders Jared Allen to Stop His Calf-Roping Sack Celebration

Jared Allen has notched 30 sacks in 35 games as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, and after each and every one of them, he has celebrated by pretending to rope a calf. Henceforth, however, whenever Jared takes down a quarterback, he will have to rein in his exuberance and forgo his now-famous calf-roping celebration.  This by decree of the NFL, which all of a sudden has decided that pantomiming a rodeo move after a sack is forbidden. NFL Hands Out Fines for Lions Game Penalties

Two Vikings have received a total of $15,000 in fines from stuff that went down in Sunday’s win over the Lions. Interestingly, according to Tom Pelissero, neither Jared Allen nor Detroit’s Shaun Hill were financially penalized for their actions during that little scrum that erupted in the second half. Ray Edwards, however, was fined $5,000 for the shove that touched off the mini-brawl.  Edwards was also slapped with another $5,000 fine for a hit to the head of quarterback Hill.
