As a former coach, I will attest that there are several ways to get your players motivated, and it's different with each player. What I see and hear from Vikings players, as well as the fans and even media... there is one "simple change" that would motivate and fire up the entire organization... Get rid of Childress.

With that... Wilf, you screwed up last year when you gave Childress a contract extension, rather than truly evaluating WHY the team was performing as good as it was... and Childress was NOT the reason! He's the "door stop".

If you want to get your team and fans back... motivated and ready to explode into the second half of the season, admit your screw up and get rid of Childress NOW... forget about the wins and losses.

You need someone that wants to LEAD a TEAM... not DICTATE it. A true leader will take responsibility for their mistakes... Childress justs wants to "drive the bus" and run over everyone who he feels didn't "follow his system"... His system is flawed, but he isn't willing to allow his players to make changes without "punishment". Other teams make changes during a game when they aren't having success... Childress doesn't.

My prediction... and it pains me to say this as Vikings fan... but with Childress in charge, your Vikings fall short of the playoffs... With him gone, I believe they begin their run to the NFC championship game and quite possibly the superbowl...

But, Wilf... it's your team ... you can choose to "toss out the trash" [Childress] now, let the air clear and watch the fun begin... or leave it [Childress] in the corner and have it continue to "stink the place up"...
It's your decision... and my 2-cents...
