Don’t be alarmed if you happen to see Visanthe Shiancoe carrying a dart gun at Soldier Field come Sunday. He’s just out to bag some big game…that goes by the name of Julius Peppers.
As Shiancoe explained to reporters on Thursday, “You can’t have no wild lion [like Peppers] running around the neighborhood, you know? … We’ve got to tranquilize his ass.”
Shiancoe clearly remembers the last time the Vikings faced Peppers. As a member of the Carolina Panthers, Peppers abused Bryant McKinnie, finally forcing Brad Childress to yank McKinnie from the game. Peppers finished with 1 sack and 3 QB hits in a game Carolina won 26-7.
Once again, the Vikings find themselves facing Peppers on the road, but this time he’s with the Bears. And this time the Vikings are in a much more desperate situation. I expect them to give McKinnie and Phil Loadholt – since Peppers lines up on both ends of the line – plenty of tight end assistance on Sunday.
