There wasn’t a whole lot of suspense about today’s deadline to officially activate Sidney Rice from the PUP list. After all, Rice told ESPN yesterday that he was going to play Sunday, making today’s activation a mere formality.
Of course, in Vikingland, nothing is ever as simple as it seems. So perhaps one or two fans got a little nervous as the 3 PM central time deadline approached and there was still no word from the Vikings on Rice’s status.
Those fans can now rest easy: The Vikings have announced that Rice is off the PUP list, clearing him to suit up tomorrow afternoon against the Packers.
Now we’ll see how much Rice actually plays. And whether Brett Favre can rekindle the magic he had with Rice last season.
