Eric Bieniemy Staying Put (For Now)

In spite of being a “lost season”, we don’t have to worry about losing an assistant coach. Eric “sleeping with” Bieniemy is staying put for now as the assistant head coach for the offense of the Vikings. This comes after news of the head coach of University of Mississippi, Houston Nutt, accepting the head coaching position with Bienemy’s alma mater the Colorado Buffaloes.

Bieniemy served as an assistant coach for the Buffaloes in 2001 and 2002 before moving on the UCLA and the Vikings. It was rumored that he interviewed for the Colorado head coaching position yesterday with the Vikings coaching staff very much in flux after Brad Childress was dismissed a mere 6 days ago.

Nutt apparently had a falling out with Ole Miss Athletic Director Pete Boone and will be leaving the Rebels soon to coach the Buffaloes. Much will be made this offseason as to who calls the shots on the Vikings offense, in particular who manages the running backs. Something tells me Adrian Peterson, who is likely to receive a contract extension, will have a Brett Favre player-like-say in that department.
