Vikings Need a Win Vs. Arizona. Duh.
There’s no way of finessing the situation – the Vikings need a win against Arizona or their season will be lost. At 2-5 they still have a decent shot at the playoffs, given the weakness of the NFC. But if they slide to 2-6? You can kiss any realistic hope of a 2010 playoff run goodbye. And, if last week’s reports are to be believed, you can probably kiss Brad Childress goodbye as well. Judging from the sentiments being expressed by most Viking fans, there will be few tears shed if Childress is indeed sent packing by Zygi Wilf. The [...]
Evidence has mounted all week that Zygi Wilf may be pondering making a coaching change, including a report that Wilf met with multiple veteran Vikings, including Brett Favre, to discuss their feelings about the embattled Brad Childress. Now, Ed Werder of ESPN has come across with the most solid proof yet that Wilf is down on Chilly enough to consider getting rid of him. Werder’s report concerns the curious one day gap that appeared between Brad Childress’ apparently unilateral decision to cut Randy Moss and the Vikings officially placing Moss on waivers. According to Werder, Wilf used that extra day [...]
Percy Harvin “Extremely Limited” in Practice
We know the Vikings won’t have Randy Moss this weekend, and we have learned they almost certainly will not have Sidney Rice even though they just removed him from the PUP list and he has begun practicing. And now it looks like they will be without Percy Harvin who injured his ankle against the Pats and was “extremely limited” in practice Friday according to Brad Childress. No Randy. No Sidney. No Percy. With the season on the line Sunday against Arizona, Brett Favre will have Bernard Berrian, Greg Lewis and Greg Camarillo as his top three targets. And of course [...]
Myron Pryor Fined for Breaking Brett Favre’s Face
The NFL sent a clear message today: Stay away from Brett Favre‘s face. The Patriots‘ Myron Pryor gave Favre a shot up under the helmet Sunday, splitting Favre’s chin and sending him to the locker room. Today Pryor was fined $7500 by the league for the hit. Thanks to Pryor, Favre was not available for any kind of late fourth quarter comeback attempt by the Vikings. This proved moot as the Vikings’ defense, and particularly Asher Allen, were unable to prevent Danny Woodhead and the Pats from scoring one last touchdown to put the game out-of-reach. After Favre’s abrupt, violent [...]
I still think it’s a long-shot that Brad Childress gets fired during the season, no matter what happens to the Vikings from here on out. But at the same time it’s hard to ignore all the speculation coming from legitimate media folks that if the Vikings don’t handle the Cardinals in confident fashion Sunday at the Metrodome, Chilly will be sent packing by Zygi Wilf come Monday. The idea that Chilly could be fired if the Vikes lose Sunday was floated earlier in the week by Judd Zulgad, who qualified his remark by saying it all depends “on how the [...]
Titans Claim Randy Moss
The Tennessee Titans have won the Randy Moss sweepstakes. The flightly receiver, who was cut by the Vikings Monday after just four games with the team, is expected to report to Tennessee just as fast as he can get there (hopefully he will show more urgency in getting to Tennessee than he did in running most of his routes with the Vikings). A few pieces of advice for the Titans: 1) Submit all menus to Moss for approval before serving food. 2) Run all game management decisions – when to go for it on fourth down, stuff like that – [...]
The restaurant whose food Randy Moss berated during the widely-discussed locker room incident from last week is quickly making hay on the whole affair. On Friday, Tinucci’s will offer a free lunch to anyone who shows up with some Randy Moss gear they no longer want to hold onto. “Proudly serving their neighbors for over 52 years, Tinucci’s has the food hated by Randy Moss, but loved by everyone else!” reads the announcement on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “Thanks to Randy’s locker room outburst, Tinucci’s is now getting some national attention. For this, Tinucci’s would like to show their appreciation [...]
Brad Childress Talks About Cutting Randy Moss
Mark November 3, 2010 on your calendars kids. Cause today is the day Brad Childress finally admitted he made a mistake. While addressing the media about the decision to cut Randy Moss, Chilly willingly acknowledged that he erred in bringing the volatile Moss onto a team that was already rife with turmoil and didn’t need another distraction. “It was a poor decision,” Childress said of the move to acquire Moss from New England for a 3rd round draft pick. “I’ve got to stand up and I have to make it right. When it’s not right, you need to make it [...]
Randy Moss Mess Has Brad Childress on Shaky Footing
Brad Childress finally ticked off the one person he couldn’t afford to tick off: owner Zygi Wilf. According to reports, Wilf is less-than-thrilled with Childress’ decision to jettison Randy Moss a day after Moss took some public shots at Chilly. What really has Zygi’s underwear in a bunch is the fact that Childress came to this decision without bothering to consult either him or personnel guy Rick Spielman. Rather than go through a proper process, Childress acted unilaterally, apparently in his own defense and possibly against the best interests of the team. That is not how a professional football coach [...]
Another day, another drama with the Minnesota Vikings. For whatever reason this one feels more significant than others though. To address the headline, I have been told by sources that Moss had a “blow up” following Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots where he confronted multiple Vikings coaches including head coach Brad Childress. Many things frustrated Moss; specifically how coaches ignored his advice earlier in the week on the Patriots defensive tendencies. Moss also on Sunday night gave a bizarre press conference both criticizing the Vikings coaching staff while also referring to Bill Belichick as the “Greatest Coach in [...]
