Brett Favre Reiterates That He is "Done" After 2010

Despite clearly being on his last legs as an NFL player, Brett Favre continues getting questions about his possibly suiting up for 2011.  The issue came up again today during Favre’s weekly presser, and Favre answered definitively:  “I’m done.”

Favre made it clear during his first press conference after returning this preseason that 2010 will be his last year as an NFL quarterback, and has repeated the statement several times since.  Along the way, his body has only gotten more battered, and his production more erratic.

At this point, it seems Favre will be lucky to still have a functioning right arm by the time the season ends.  So unless he learns to become a lefty thrower at this late date, the chances of his being physically able to play for one more year seem absurdly remote.  And I haven’t even mentioned the mental grind, which has clearly taken its toll on the 41-year-old grandfather.

Of course, there’s a very good reason why people keep expressing skepticism at Favre’s statements of intent:  he’s gone back on his word before.  This time, however, I don’t think it will matter whether Favre gets the old itch.  This time the choice has been taken out of his hands by Father Time…and Jenn Sterger.
