Brett Favre used his normal Wednesday presser to update his status coming off the shoulder sprain he suffered early in Sunday’s win over Buffalo. The quarterback says he will try to practice on Thursday, and should be able to make up his mind on Friday whether he will be able to play on Sunday.
If Favre can’t go on Sunday, it will mean the end of his vaunted consecutive games streak. The importance of this record to Favre has led some to speculate the quarterback might come in for a series or two on Sunday, just to keep the streak alive, then hand the reins over to Tarvaris Jackson.
Leslie Frazier has said that if Favre is healthy he will play on Sunday. Frazier said today the decision to play Favre may not be made until game time.
I am on record as saying the Vikings should let Favre play if he can play. These last four games represent a final run around the track for old #4, and I would hate to see that triumphant victory tour cut short for the sake of one more look at Tarvaris Jackson, a quarterback we already know more than enough about.
