Extra Day Off May Not Rescue Brett Favre’s Streak

Thanks to the snow gods, who may possibly be in league with the football gods, Brett Favre is getting an extra day to rest his sprained shoulder. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like one day will be enough to get that shoulder right. Favre himself has reportedly said in a text message that he “doubts” he will be able to continue his vaunted consecutive games streak Monday night against the Giants in Detroit.

The skeptic will insist that this is Favre just doing his usual “building up the drama” thing ahead of yet another seemingly miraculous recovery.  Perhaps.  Or, maybe this time the streak really is doomed.

Maybe I’ve bought too much into the Favre myth myself, but I’m still leaning toward believing he will play.  As of this moment.
