Despite two extra days to get well, it looks like Brett Favre will not be able to play in the Vikings‘ historic Tuesday-nighter against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Favre is used to being able to grit his teeth and make it through injuries, but the concussion he’s dealing with is a different animal. Not only will manning-up get you nowhere when trying to overcome the fogginess associated with having your brain rattled, it will also not help you pass the NFL’s strict concussion tests.
So far, Favre has failed to pass even the preliminary concussion tests, according to Leslie Frazier. This means he is still suffering concentration and memory issues. In the past, maybe Favre would’ve been able to talk his way out onto the field Tuesday night, but today’s NFL is much more serious about keeping players out when they are suffering post-concussion symptoms. Favre remains officially doubtful, but it appears his true status is “out for sure.”
