Inside the Collapsed Metrodome (Photo)

This is what it looks like inside the snow-damaged Metrodome.  I guess propping the roof up with a stick and shoveling the field is out of the question.  Right now it appears the game will be moved to Indianapolis or Detroit. A New Level of Craziness… Metrodome Roof Collapses

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Just when you think the drama has subsided on the 2010 season and we can peacefully watch Leslie Frazier do an excellent job of righting the ship… Something even crazier happens. Mother Nature has come out in full force, hitting the Minneapolis-St Paul area with up to 21 inches of snow and the Metrodome roof has collapsed. Looking at the pictures on KARE11.com it appears that the Teflon bubble atop the complex is not currently visible from the ground. This is the 3rd time the Metrodome has collapsed, however last occurred 24 years ago and wear and tear applies to [...]

Vikings-Giants Moved to Monday Night

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s official:  The Vikings-Giants game scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been moved to Monday night.  In the end, Mother Nature and her colossal snowstorm were too much to deal with. The Giants had their flight into Minneapolis diverted to Kansas City because of the storm, and would not have been able to depart for the Twin Cities again until Sunday morning, leaving them only a few scant hours between arrival and game time.  This would’ve been a great advantage for the Vikings…too much of an advantage, apparently, in the eyes of the league. Now the Giants will be able to [...]

Bad Weather Messes Up Giants’ Travel Plans

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Giants knew bad weather was coming into Minneapolis this weekend, so they adjusted their travel plans by leaving New York a few hours early.  Unfortunately the early departure did not get the Giants into Minneapolis in time to beat the blizzard.  The Minneapolis airport has been closed because of the storm, and the Giants’ flight has reportedly been diverted to Kansas City. It is unknown at this time when the Minneapolis airport will re-open – meaning the Giants could have a long stay in Kansas City.  I suppose there’s even a possibility tomorrow’s game could end up being pushed [...]

5 Questions With GMen HQ

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

This week we check in with Andrew Ilnicki of GMen HQ for some insight on Sunday’s opponent the New York Giants: TVA: A bunch of important offensive players have been missing recently for the Giants, including Steve Smith, David Diehl and Shaun O’Hara.  Which guy have they missed the most? GMenHQ: On that list, WR Steve Smith.  Eli was having trouble moving the chains on short passes without him, but Derek Hagan improved his route running and had a tremendous game against the Redskins last week.  The offensive line has held together well — they’e had 10 or so different [...]

Brett Favre Won’t Pull One-Snap Crap, Says Frazier

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

No one knows if Brett Favre will be able to play Sunday against the Giants to extend his record consecutive games streak.  But here’s one thing we do know:  If Favre does play, it won’t be just for one token snap, to artificially continue the streak. We know this because Leslie Frazier told Peter King, in no uncertain terms, that no such shenanigans will be allowed on his watch. “No,” Frazier answered King when queried about the possibility of Favre taking one snap and exiting. “I wouldn’t do that. We wouldn’t do that. And I can tell you Brett wouldn’t [...]

Hopefully Brett Favre Observed Cal Ripken

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

When it comes to “The Streak” the name that comes most to mind in the NFL is Brett Favre. Throughout most of our lifetimes however “The Streak” in any sport is most associated with Cal Ripken. This blog entry is not a debate on who’s is more impressive (seriously, that’s like arguing over Shakespeare Sonnets), but rather how Brett Favre should take a look at how Cal Ripken’s consecutive game streak ended. I remember being a freshman in college eating in the corner of the dining hall when a friend said to the rest of the table “Whoa… ‘The Streak’ [...]

Brett Favre Appears at Practice, Doesn’t Throw

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Brett Favre said he would try to practice on Thursday and then decide on Friday if he would be able to go on Sunday for the Vikings against the Giants. Well, Thursday is here and Brett is practicing.  If you want to call standing on the practice field flipping balls to assistant coaches with his left hand “practicing.” According to various reports, Brett did very little during the media-access portion of the Vikings’ practice.  Speculation was that he would do more during the afternoon session, and maybe even try throwing the ball with his right hand. Darrell Bevell told reporters [...]

Brett Favre Status Report

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Brett Favre used his normal Wednesday presser to update his status coming off the shoulder sprain he suffered early in Sunday’s win over Buffalo.  The quarterback says he will try to practice on Thursday, and should be able to make up his mind on Friday whether he will be able to play on Sunday. If Favre can’t go on Sunday, it will mean the end of his vaunted consecutive games streak.  The importance of this record to Favre has led some to speculate the quarterback might come in for a series or two on Sunday, just to keep the streak [...]

Vikings Place Albert Young on IR

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Vikings made the signing of Lorenzo Booker official today.  To make room for Booker on the roster, the Vikings parted ways with former undrafted free agent running back Albert Young. Young was thought to be in the mix for #2 running back before the start of the season, but as the preseason and early season unfolded, it became clear that Toby Gerhart was firmly established as the back-up behind Adrian Peterson.  Young spent much of this year deactivated, finally getting a chance to play during garbage time at the end of Sunday’s blow-out win over the Bills. With the [...]
