Ryan Longwell Signs 4-Year Deal With Vikings

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

While we wait for Donovan McNabb‘s bad feelings to get smoothed over there are other players to focus in on, including Ryan Longwell who has just re-signed with the Vikings for four years at $12 million, $3.5 million guaranteed. There had been momentary concern that Longwell might not be picked up due to age and diminishing leg power but obviously the Vikings are not concerned about these things. And with kickers getting snapped up for big money they didn’t want to risk losing the man who has arguably been the steadiest performer on the team the last few years. So [...]

Bernard Berrian Looks Like He’s Coming Back

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

There’s a reason we haven’t heard any word yet about the Vikings cutting Bernard Berrian: It’s because they’re not cutting him. At least that’s how things look after a tweet by good old B_Twice suggesting he is still firmly in the fold for Minnesota. “Was good talkin to everyone @ Winter Park. Got my playbook n now it’s time to study study study. Now, I feel like football is back,” Berrian posted moments ago to his popular Twitter account. No genius-level deductive reasoning ability required here. The Vikings wouldn’t give Berrian a playbook if they intended cutting him. It’s still [...]

Eric Weddle Stays With San Diego

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Remove Eric Weddle from your free agent wish list Vikings fan. The Chargers safety will remain a Chargers safety after agreeing to a contract that will reportedly make him the highest-paid safety in the history of the NFL. Yes you read that correctly, the highest-paid safety in the history of the NFL. That’s what’s called breaking the bank for your guy. Obviously the Vikings were not willing to go anywhere near that high for someone who is thought of a solid but by no means elite player at his position, so they basically had no shot at Weddle despite any [...]

Larry Fitzgerald Likes the Donovan McNabb Trade (Video)

AUTHOR: | IN: Video, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

1500 ESPN Twin Cities caught up with Larry Fitzgerald to find out what he thinks of the Donovan McNabb trade. Unlike many observers, Fitzgerald believes McNabb is a good fit for the Vikings. Did I mention that Larry Fitzgerald is a fantastic football player, an amazing human being and a super-hunky dreamboat? And did I mention that he’ll be a free agent after next season and the Vikings will probably need a wide receiver really bad? McNabb probably won’t still be around by then but you never know. Maybe if McNabb has a great season for the Vikes, Fitzgerald will [...]

Hurt Feelings Holding Up McNabb Trade

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

At some point today Donovan McNabb is expected to agree to terms with the Vikings and become the newest established veteran (possibly washed-up) quarterback to ride into town on a promise of finally delivering the Super Bowl championship that has eluded the team for all of its history. But finalization of this trade will not happen without some drama – because everything Viking-related has to involve drama, and that goes double when you’re talking about the quarterback position. The drama this time reportedly revolves around McNabb himself and his apparent hurt feelings over not being shown a level of deference [...]

Sources: Frazier Didn’t Want To Wait On Veteran QB

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

One of the main criticisms of the trade for Donovan McNabb last night was the fact he was due a roster bonus in early September if he was still on the Redskins, a cut was inevitable and there would at most be a couple of teams interested in the veteran QB when he hit free agency. Sources have confirmed to TVA the main reason for executing the trade last night was to get a veteran QB on the roster as quickly as possible with camp beginning Friday. After Tyler Thigpen decided to join the Buffalo Bills, the Vikings traded for [...]

Jay Glazer: Donovan McNabb Traded To Minnesota For A 6th Round Pick

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Dan already touched upon McNabb to Minnesota several times today, so no need to rehash what was already written. He’s a better blogger than me. Just tonight however FOXSports Jay Glazer is reporting that Donovan McNabb has been traded to the Minnesota Vikings for a 6th round pick in 2012 and possibly a 6th round pick in 2013 dependent upon McNabb’s play. What’s most interesting is tonight the Vikings were rumored to be interested in signing Tyler Thigpen as their veteran QB option. But once Thigpen decided to join the Buffalo Bills the Vikings pulled the trigger on McNabb. The [...]

Seahawks & Vikings Deep In Talks With Sidney Rice

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

News just came about from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Vikings are in a deep bidding war for wide receiver Sidney Rice. There are reasons as to why Sidney would end up in Seattle. The Seahawks do have cap room and an owner with deep pockets. He’d also undoubtably be their #1 WR. Most of all, Sidney would consider going to the Seahawks. They currently have former Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell & Tarvaris Jackson possibly starting at QB. But here is why Sidney should not consider going to the Seahawks… THEY HAVE DARRELL BEVELL & TARVARIS JACKSON. If conservative, [...]

Vikings Sign WR Devin Aromashodu

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Devin Aromashodu is a done deal. Adam Schefter just reported the Vikings have signed the former Bears receiver to a one-year contract. I’m sure having him on board will soften the blow for fans when Sidney Rice departs. Or not. Aromashodu showed promise with the Bears two years ago – just ask Antoine Winfield – but fell out of favor last season and is now trying to rebuild his career. Now we wait to find out who will be throwing Aromashodu the ball. Donovan McNabb? Tyler Thigpen? Some quarterback no one even thought of yet? Follow FanSided on Facebook. Follow [...]

Freeman: “No Firm Deal in Place” For Donovan McNabb

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com begs to differ with reports that a Donovan McNabb deal is all-but-done. Freeman says the Vikings and Redskins are indeed in discussions about McNabb but says reports that a firm deal is in place are false and that it’s still 50-50 a trade gets made. For what it’s worth, Vikings radio man Paul Allen said moments ago on KFAN that he thinks the McNabb trade story is outright baloney and that the Vikings will go with either Tyler Thigpen or Bruce Gradkowski as their back-up. Paul Charchian believes Thigpen will end up being the man for [...]
