Has Bernard Berrian Already Been Cut?
I’m about to pack it in for the night, but an interesting tweet just arose which begs the question on if Bernard Berrian is a former Minnesota Viking. Just a few minutes ago Bernard Berrian tweeted… @B_Twice I’m really bout to drive back to Fresno right now. Smh!! All that’s known right now are three things… 1) Berrian was in the Twin Cities last night at the Starkey Hearing Foundation awards gala. He talked about future with the Vikings, some things positive however was quoted as saying “If we have to cut ties, then we have to cut ties.” Why [...]
NFL Releases Official Unrestricted Free Agent List
As a service to teams trying to get up to speed with the lockout now over the NFL has released a complete list of every player eligible for unrestricted free agency at this time. The 2010 Vikings on the list are as follows: Brett Favre Ryan Longwell Pat Williams Ben Leber Patrick Ramsey Lito Sheppard Greg Lewis Frank Walker Hank Baskett Ryan Cook Ray Edwards Fred Evans Tarvaris Jackson Naufahu Tahi Eric Frampton Sidney Rice Obviously all tenders placed on the above players earlier this off-season have been rendered null-and-void by the new CBA. As we learned earlier today, there [...]
At long last the lockout has been lifted, and the NFL is ready to get back to business as usual. What does the end of the labor nightmare mean to me as a fan of the Vikings? 1. I no longer have to waste my angst on the state of the NFL at large, and can return to focusing on the only thing that matters: how messed up the Vikings are. 2. I can officially start counting down the hours until Madieu Williams gets cut. 3. I can stop hating Roger Goodell and start hating Mark Dayton. 4. I can [...]
Vikings Interested in Bears DT Anthony Adams
And the rumor mill begins to churn. From Sean Jensen comes this tweet about the Vikings and a Chicago Bears defensive lineman who could become available: Here’s some intrigue: one team interested in #Bears DT Anthony Adams? Minnesota Vikings. He would be good complement to Kevin Williams. In a Sun-Times article earlier this month Jensen wrote of Anthony, “An NFC personnel executive said he expected Adams to draw interest from several teams because of his consistency and willingness to play nose tackle, an unglamorous position.” Was a time not long ago when the Vikings were believed to be fairly set at defensive [...]
Post-Lockout Timeline Taking Shape
After a Ryan Cook-like number of false starts and endless reams of Twitter speculation and beat writer guesswork we finally have a fairly concrete view of the post-lockout timeline as regards free agent signings and camp openings and such. I say “fairly” because for all I know this could change between now and the time I click publish. Maybe I should hurry. Okay here’s what we have, in handy table form: Tuesday – Teams can trade players and sign rookies. UFAs free to begin negotiating with teams. Wednesday – Team facilities open. This does not mean camps open. It means team [...]
Bernard Berrian Continues To Babble
Bernard Berrian spoke with our favorite beat writer today in Judd Zulgad of The Star Tribune. You can find the article here. It’s Judd’s work and if you ever find us at TVA to be hacks please let us know. We ripped Bernard during last season’s debacle. Maybe that was unfair. Maybe not. But while we’re at it there were four comments that stood out during this interview that we’re rather bothersome on if this guy has a future with the Vikings. On getting a playbook: “That’s one of the things I need to get back to. I need to [...]
CBA Accepted; Vote Scheduled; Lockout Nearly Over
The sports landscape is deader than dead this Sunday – there isn’t even a women’s soccer match to get jacked up about – but thankfully there is one piece of great news to liven things up. And no it has nothing to do with Brett Favre maybe returning to the NFL. Although there is one aspect of the Favre rumor that actually is great news: He’s NOT rumored to be returning to the Vikings. Hallelujah. As I was saying…there’s one piece of good news today, a report that the NFLPA leadership has approved the CBA the owners ratified on Thursday. [...]
How to begin this post other than saying… Again? He may be coming back. Seriously. Sports radio personality for WIP-AM 610 in Philadelphia, Howard Eskin, is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles are interested in bringing in Brett Favre as a backup QB for the 2012 season. And when it comes to track records on being a good source for the Philadelphia sports scene Eskin is pretty solid. If possible to think straight on having another “Favre Watch” – as if the NFL Lockout wasn’t enough – this would make sense for both sides. Michael Vick is an injury risk, Kevin [...]
With Sidney Rice wanting to test free agency and All-Pro Larry Fitzgerald a free agent in 2012, there has been a vibe that we’d let Sidney walk and sign the beloved Fitz in 2012 to help bring excitement to Minnesota and possibly break in a new stadium. Dan has done an excellent job on the subject not once but twice quoting Fitzgerald as saying that his first choice would be to stay in Arizona however “playing for the Vikings would be a dream come true.” But there have been some developments lately that will dim our hopes. Rewinding the clock [...]
Chris Kluwe Vs. Nate Jackson Gets Kind Of Ugly
Until last night I had no idea who Nate Jackson was. Turns out he’s a former fringe NFL player who now writes for Deadspin. And he doesn’t like punters, especially opinionated ones like Chris Kluwe. In a piece for Deadspin, Jackson made known his anti-punter and specifically anti-Kluwe sentiments. Jackson’s position boils down to this: Nobody likes punters, so punters should keep their mouths shut about greedy players. Jackson writes: Punters are at the absolute bottom of the totem pole on an NFL roster, the very last man. If the team plane crashed on a deserted island, he’d be dinner [...]
