Hello Viking Age Nation!
What is up Viking Age Nation?! I’m Clint, (me friends call me C-Deniro) the new, out of the wrapper editor here at TVA and could not be happier to be here. Do not fret, our main man Dan remains with the TVA team and will continue to give you the excellent Viking coverage you are used to. For that matter our entire TVA writing staff remains in tact. We will continue, to build TVA into your one stop shop for all things Purple. You will still get breaking news and excellent commentary and we are working hard to bring you [...]
Percy Harvin Sat Out of Practice, May Not Play Saturday
It’s time to officially begin the Percy Health Watch. A day after leaving practice early with sore ribs, Percy Harvin missed a full day of practice with the same soreness. If Harvin is unable to practice on Thursday he will be kept out of Saturday’s preseason game against Seattle. Say it with me now everyone: Thank goodness it’s not a migraine! I say keep Percy out of practice on Thursday and let him sit out the game. Then sit him out of all practices until the season starts, and all preseason games. I don’t even want to see Percy until [...]
Jimmy Kennedy Has Work Out With Giants
Jimmy Kennedy may soon have a new job as a back-up defensive tackle in the NFL. The former Viking tweeted Wednesday morning, “Working out with Giants… Just weight 304lbs .” The smiley face indicates that Kennedy is happy about weighing 304 pounds. Maybe he should hook Bryant McKinnie up with his trainer. Kennedy, a one-time first round pick who became regarded as a bust, was acquired by the Vikings in 2008 as insurance against Pat Williams being suspended for Starcaps. The suspension never materialized and Kennedy seemed to be settling in as a decent 2nd string tackle until 2010 when [...]
Is Toby Gerhart Already A Bust?
With recent news that Adrian Peterson is going to be more involved with the passing game including playing third downs in unison with Lorenzo Booker’s solid preseason game versus the Titans, it begs the question if we should start considering Toby Gerhart a bust. And I know… I know… he’s just going into his second year in the league, does have a powerful running style, seems to have a good head on his shoulders and carried us to victory last season versus the Washington Redskins. But it must also be considered how Gerhart was acquired. When the Vikings drafted Gerhart [...]
Percy Harvin Left Practice Early
I don’t want to alarm you all, but Percy Harvin had to leave Tuesday’s practice early for an undisclosed reason. Tom Pelissero tweeted, “Practice over. Percy Harvin dropped out. Didn’t look like anything big.” Didn’t look like anything big? That’s what you say Tom Pelissero. Me, I’ll wait until the Vikings give some word about the reason for Harvin’s early practice exit before I decide how panic-stricken I should be. We always worried about Percy, because of the migraine thing, but now we worry double because he’s pretty much all we have left at receiver with Sidney Rice gone. Greg [...]
The Vikings Offensive Line is a Bleeping Mess
The general consensus after the first preseason game is that the Vikings‘ offensive line looks about as stout as a group of fourth graders attempting to protect their school from a 50-ft tsunami by standing in front of it with their arms interlocked. Yes it was that brutal at times. I don’t want to suggest Steve Hutchinson looked washed-up on that one 3rd-and-short play, but the only other time I remember a grown man going backward that fast it was because he got too close to a jet engine. I don’t mean to pick on Steve though; he certainly wasn’t [...]
John Schneider has backpedaled from his comments last week criticizing the Vikings‘ handling of Tarvaris Jackson. In an interview with Yahoo!, the Seahawks‘ GM infamously claimed the Vikings “[pooped] on” T-Jack for four years, a reference both to Brad Childress‘ benching of Jackson in 2008 and to the way Jackson was left hanging two straight off-seasons while the team waited on Brett Favre. Schneider has now retracted his remarks, saying, “Yeah, that was kind of a cavalier moment there. What I was trying to say was that I understand what Tarvaris had been through and being in Green Bay and [...]
Talking Cornerbacks
Just a quick post on the cornerback position… On Chris Cook. I drew ire for not including Cook in the Stock Update post with several readers claiming that Cook deserved to be included in the stock down column. Fine. Fair game. Cook was downright miserable. He was torched on a long touchdown caught by Yamon Figurs where Cook unintelligently watched a fumbled snap instead of staying on his assigned receiver. There were also other running plays where he was blocked out by wide receivers failing to have a presence on those. Cook needs to learn, and needs to learn fast, [...]
Here’s a silly little bit Pete Carroll posted on his YouTube channel (or had his lackey post on his YouTube channel) “introducing” Seahawks fans to Tarvaris Jackson and Sidney Rice. Interesting that Carroll would think those players need more of an introduction. Don’t Seattle fans already know everything they need to know about T-Jack and Sid after the first preseason game? Let’s see, T-Jack was terrible and Sidney didn’t play because he was injured. Yup, that’s pretty much everything they need to know. Not sure what Carroll thought he was accomplishing but, cute video anyway. Follow FanSided on Facebook. Follow [...]
49ers Will Give Daunte Culpepper a Work Out
Daunte Culpepper has made no secret of his desire to return to the NFL. The former Vikings quarterback told Jason La Canfora he’s “itching to get into an NFL training camp so I can practice again,” and said he is willing to conduct a “‘pro day’ for any NFL team that is interested in seeing what they will get with a healthy, motivated Daunte Culpepper.” At least one NFL team has now reportedly contacted Culpepper about setting up just such a work out. The San Francisco 49ers, tweets Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, are ready to take a look at [...]
