Vikings Practice Squad Takes Shape

The Vikings will put together their 8-man practice squad as the day progresses. We already have a good idea who will be on the team, but of course those guys have to clear waivers first. The first moves are now coming across the wire and here we go…

Emmanuel Arceneaux – The CFL guy looked okay in preseason but not great. Clearly the Vikings think there is potential there.

Matt Asiata – Might end up being an NFL fullback down the road. For now the Vikings will try to function without a fullback on the 53-man roster.

Ryan D’Imperio – Ditto.

Update: The team has now ended the suspense and announced the squad. The three above plus…

Stephen Burton – Showed up more in the preseason than I expected given the horrible reviews he got in Mankato.

Chris DeGeare – Many were shocked when he failed to make the 53-man roster. Obviously the coaching staff believes he has a lot of work to do.

Caleb King – A late addition to the preseason roster. Had a nice second half against the Texans’ defensive scrubs.

Cedric McKinley – He’s a defensive lineman. His first name is Cedric.

Note that there are only 7 players listed above, meaning the Vikings still have one spot to fill. Allen Reisner could be the 8th man unless someone else claims him on waivers.

Update #2: Allen Reisner has cleared waivers and been added to the squad.
