Leslie Frazier isn’t ready to commit to Donovan McNabb as the starter for Sunday’s game against the Packers, nor is he ready to announce that the Christian Ponder era has officially begun. In his Monday press conference Frazier said he and his staff will discuss the quarterback situation and make a final decision on Wednesday.
In his presser Frazier made it clear that whatever decision the Vikings make regarding their QB, it will be made with only the next game in mind. Frazier said it’s too early to begin looking forward to 2012…even though the Vikings are clearly out of it at 1-5.
Besides the QB situation, Frazier also addressed the team’s overall play last night against the Bears. Frazier was frustrated with the team’s lack of physicality on the offensive and defensive line and suggested that perhaps the players relaxed a little after finally getting their first win last week against Arizona.
A team that gets fat and happy after beating a horrible opponent for their first win of the season, then loses focus entirely for a road game against a division rival? That’s not a team with very much character or heart. After last night’s game, it doesn’t seem they have much brains either. That goes for the coaches as well as the players.
