Christian Ponder Holds Tough Vs. Packers; Defense Falters

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

If we learned nothing else about Christian Ponder on Sunday against the Packers, at least we found out the kid is tough. In the face of relentless pressure and without his top receiver Percy Harvin on the field, Ponder led the Vikings on a pair of fourth quarter scoring drives – with a lot of help from Adrian Peterson – to at least give his team a chance at a stunning upset. The Vikings fell short in the end, but it wasn’t Ponder’s fault. After Leslie Frazier’s controversial decision to punt rather than gamble on a fourth down play, the [...]

T.J. Lang Calls Brian Robison a Coward After Groin Kick

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

T.J. Lang didn’t enjoy being kicked in the groin by Brian Robison during Sunday’s Packer-Viking tilt. Even though Lang’s genitalia will be all right (as Lang reported himself last evening on Twitter), the Packers lineman still felt compelled to plant his own verbal boot in Robison’s manhood after the game. “In my opinion, it was a pretty cowardly move,” Lang told reporters. “I didn’t do anything dirty to the guy. I don’t know what he was upset about. He decided to kick me right in the groin. You never want to see that in a football game. I’m just proud [...]

Bernard Berrian Continues To Reflect Poorly On Leslie Frazier

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

As most everyone knows right now, Bernard Berrian was a healthy scratch today. He caught two balls in the teams first four games, was benched in the victory versus the Cardinals, responded with his best game of the season against the Bears (mind you that was overshadowed with a horrific drop) and didn’t play again today. Following the game there was uncertainty of if Berrian would be cut this week or be back with the Vikings. Regardless of if the Vikings send Berrian packing this week or not, therein lies the problem with this absolute joke of a football team. [...]

Vikings come up short against the Packers

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday, Vikings | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Vikings drop this one 27-33. Wait…27 to 33? Yes you read that right. This game was closer and far more entertaining than almost anyone thought it would be. Vikings led this game going into halftime, 17-13 then it went south from there and then back north for a bit. The Vikings came out in the second half and gave up a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Greg Jennings in which Jennings walked into the endzone from the 30 yard line. The Vikings secondary was without Chris Cook (incarcerated) and Antoine Winfield (injury) and many thought this unit would struggle [...]

Brian Robison Kicks T.J. Lang In the Groin (Video)

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday, Video, Vikings | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

It was a pretty good first half for the Vikings. It wasn’t a great first half for T.J. Lang’s groin or Brian Robison’s reputation as a dude. Dudes don’t kick dudes in the groin. Period. Like The Viking Age on Facebook. Follow Dan Zinski on Twitter.

Christian Ponder Leads Vikings to 17-13 Halftime Lead

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday, Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Christian Ponder’s first NFL start got off to a rollicking beginning when, on his first pass, the rookie hooked up with Michael Jenkins for a 72-yard pass play. Ponder sealed the deal a few plays later by tossing a TD pass to Visanthe Shiancoe. After his spectacular opening pass Ponder settled in for an efficient first half, completing 8 of 14 for 126 yards. Adrian Peterson joined in the fun by running 11 times for 69 yards and a touchdown. As expected, the defense had its problems containing Aaron Rodgers, but Jared Allen did sack him twice to slow down [...]

Christian Ponder Hits Michael Jenkins For 72 Yards In Starting Debut (Vikings Video)

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday, Video, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

At first it was ruled a touchdown but replay showed Jenkins was down at the one. No problem. A couple plays later Ponder rolled out and hit Visanthe Shiancoe for the TD. And then the Packers marched right down the field to tie it at 7. Can you say “wild shootout?” Like The Viking Age on Facebook. Follow Dan Zinski on Twitter.

Lombardi: McNabb Wasn’t Putting in the Time

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi reported today that Vikings quarterback Donovan McNabb wasn’t exactly a model player. Per Lombardi, McNabb would show up late for meetings and wouldn’t put the time in to being an NFL starter. Lombardi also stated this played a major role in McNabb’s benching and giving the car keys to Christian Ponder. This should come as no surprise to Vikings fans after McNabb’s horrific year in Washington last year, stories in the past of struggling with his weight and simply the fact that he’s on his 3rd team in as many years. Lombardi also reports that McNabb [...]

TVA Staff Predictions: Vikings/Packers

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Packers week and you’re just dying to know what we think the outcome will be. We are here to serve. Here’s how we see the final scoreboard: Jon: Packers 48-10 Brad: Packers 31 Vikings 16: Some people might think I sound like an idiot, but Green Bay’s defense doesn’t impress me that much. They give up a lot of yards and they aren’t great against the run. I only say that because I don’t agree with those who think Christian Ponder is going to be overwhelmed by the defending champions. A part of me wants to think that this could [...]
