Donovan McNabb Was Surprised By Benching

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Leslie Frazier faced the media on Wednesday to officially announce the change from Donovan McNabb to Christian Ponder. When Leslie was done explaining himself, Ponder took the podium to stare down those Twin Cities press jackals for the first time as an NFL starter (don’t look Jon Krawczynski directly in the eye or you will go insane!). Then it was Donovan McNabb’s turn. McNabb, who is 1-5 as a starter this year and currently sits 19th in the NFL in passer rating at 82.9, said he was surprised to learn that Frazier had decided to bench him in favor of [...]

La Canfora: Christian Ponder Will Start for Vikings Vs. Packers

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

We don’t have to wait for Wednesday to find out who will start Sunday for the Vikings against the Packers. Jason La Canfora has broken the news: it will be Christian Ponder. La Canfora tweets, “Vikings are changing QBs. Leslie Frazier has made the change and notified those involved. Christian Ponder takes over as starter.” And so as it turns out, the Christian Ponder era did begin Sunday night in the fourth quarter against the Bears. Leslie Frazier is clearly not afraid of Ponder’s confidence taking a hit. If we are to take Frazier at his word, this move is [...]

Carson Palmer Traded to Raiders; Donovan McNabb Still a Viking

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

That Donovan McNabb trade rumor that wasn’t even a trade rumor but just a figment of some desperate blogger’s imagination? Now it’s not even that. Carson Palmer has been traded to the Raiders for two first round picks, meaning Oakland is no longer in the market for a quarterback. Not that the Vikings were ever seriously considering dealing McNabb. And not that the Raiders would’ve inquired about McNabb even if the Vikings were dangling him. As for the Raiders’ decision to mortgage a big part of their future in hopes Carson Palmer can get into the flow quickly and keep their [...]

Trade Rumor: Donovan McNabb to the Raiders?

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors, Vikings | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

On the surface it seems to make sense. The Oakland Raiders need a veteran quarterback to take over for the injured Jason Campbell and keep their hopes of a playoff run alive. The Vikings seem ready to begin the Christian Ponder era and might be looking to move Donovan McNabb on. Why shouldn’t the Raiders and Viking hook up in a trade? It makes sense on the surface. However, outside of completely speculative blog reports like these, there’s seemingly nothing to this rumor whatsoever. The only solid report so far on the Raiders’ QB search involves Todd Bouman who is [...]

Dayton Announces Special Session

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Governor Dayton annouces that he intends to call a special session to discuss a stadium for the Vikings. It is also reported that Dayton called NFL Commish Roger Goodell to gain his support. This is no doubt, a long time coming and the Vikings front office must be elated. The concerns have been that the longer this drags out the most costly the stadium becomes. Time is of the essence to get a stadium deal done. The news today is obviously a huge step in that direction.   Stay tuned to TVA for more Stadium News coverage. Follow us on [...]

Vikings Will Make Quarterback Decision On Wednesday

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Leslie Frazier isn’t ready to commit to Donovan McNabb as the starter for Sunday’s game against the Packers, nor is he ready to announce that the Christian Ponder era has officially begun. In his Monday press conference Frazier said he and his staff will discuss the quarterback situation and make a final decision on Wednesday. In his presser Frazier made it clear that whatever decision the Vikings make regarding their QB, it will be made with only the next game in mind. Frazier said it’s too early to begin looking forward to 2012…even though the Vikings are clearly out of [...]

Everything Goes Wrong For Vikings As They Lose to the Bears

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Vikings didn’t wait for the second half to begin their collapse Sunday night at Soldier Field – this time they started it right at the beginning. Three plays into the Bears’ first series the Vikes surrendered a 48-yard TD pass from Jay Cutler to Devin Hester, and it only got worse from there. By halftime they were down 26-3, and in the third quarter, after a little glimmer of hope broke through courtesy of Jared Allen and Adrian Peterson, they sealed their own fate by kicking straight down the middle to Devin Hester who housed one from 98 yards. [...]

Bears pound Vikings

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday, Vikings | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The Vikings get piss pounded by the Bears this evening to the tune of 39-10. This one was over early as the Bears jumped out to a 16-0 start in the first quarter and they never looked back. There were moments when a Viking fan could’ve thought this team was going to put up a fight. Angry Peterson scored early in the third quarter to cut the Bears lead to 16 points. Then on the ensuing kickoff Devin Hester took it to the hiz-ouse and that was that. Though in fairness, if it was two hand touch above the waist [...]
