New Developments In Chris Cook Case
Tuesday was a big day for Chris Cook in his legal battle. During a court appearance, Cook’s lawyer David Valentini said that Cook plans to claim self-defense when his case finally comes to trial in March. Valentini also dropped a bit of a bombshell by saying that Cook’s accuser has withdrawn her claim that the Viking cornerback strangled her during their October 22 altercation. I’m no great legal mind, but since the accuser has dropped the strangulation claim, that means the charge of felony strangulation against Cook is out the window. That leaves one felony assault charge standing against Cook. [...]
We learned on Monday that Adrian Peterson has a high ankle sprain and will be in a walking boot for the next couple of days. Leslie Frazier mentioned that Peterson may begin “light football work” on Friday, leaving open the possibility of AD getting back on the field against Atlanta this weekend. Despite the optimistic early prognosis, experts in high ankle sprains – in other words all media members, especially the ones without medical degrees – are skeptical that Peterson will actually recover in time to play on Sunday. The fact that we’re talking about Peterson maybe playing this week [...]

What if Your Favorite Vikings Played for the Twins?
In the spirit of What if Michael Vick Were White, the (very bored) bloggers at Puckett’s Pond have whipped up a bit of whimsy in which Vikings play for the Twins. It’s all very bizarro universe without the evil beards. Speaking of evil beards, #sixseasonsandamovie. Some of you know what I mean. Okay I’m rambling. Just go to Puckett’s Pond and read their piece. It’s amusing. They have Visanthe Shiancoe as their clean-up man and E.J. Henderson at catcher. E.J. at catcher? With his knees? Like The Viking Age on Facebook. Follow Dan Zinski on Twitter.
Adrian Peterson Has a High Ankle Sprain
We already knew Adrian Peterson didn’t have a break because Leslie Frazier said so after Sunday’s game. Now we’ve learned the true nature of the injury Peterson suffered in the first quarter of Sunday’s loss: Jeremy Fowler of the Pioneer-Press says an MRI has revealed that Peterson has a high ankle sprain. As anyone who follows sports injuries knows, high ankle sprains are bad news. The recovery time for such injuries is generally greater than that required for common ankle sprains, so there’s a pretty good chance Adrian will miss some time. Then again you never know with Adrian. He [...]
Vikings-Broncos Moved to Noon
When Brett Favre was here the Vikings got used to having their games flexed into prime time, but with the Favre sizzle gone and the team struggling, the only flexing happening to the Vikings is in the opposite direction. On Monday the NFL announced that the December 4 game at the Metrodome between the Vikes and Broncos has been moved from its original 3 PM start time to noon, a downgrade in status. Additionally, the game telecast has been moved from CBS to Fox. So if you tune into CBS on December 4 looking for Vikings-Broncos, don’t get mad when [...]
More frustration for the Vikings and their fans. The team played like utter horsecrap for most of the first half, falling behind the Raiders 24-7. The second quarter was a horror show that featured 21 Raiders points, one fumbled field goal hold by the Vikings and one Christian Ponder interception deep in Raider territory. And this was after the most horrifying moment of the day: Adrian Peterson’s ankle injury which took him out of the game and placed the rest of his season in doubt. The Raiders moved the ball on the Vikings defense at will in the first half, [...]
Vikings Lose 27-21 to Raiders
The Minnesota Vikings moved to 2-8 today after suffering another loss at home to the Oakland Raiders 27-21. This one could best be summed up as one where we didn’t make enough plays and the Raiders did just enough to win in spite of making a number of costly penalties. Christian Ponder continued to go through his rookie growing pains going 19/33 for 311 yards, 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Too often he failed to see defenders and threw into double coverage. Percy Harvin was active rushing 5 times for 21 yards and having 6 receptions for 73 yards and [...]
Adrian Peterson injuring his ankle was only one of many disasters that befell the Vikings in the first half. Let’s see, there was Chris Kluwe botching a hold on a field goal, taking three points off the board. There was the entire defense going in the tank and allowing the Raiders to go up and down the field at will. There was Lorenzo Booker fumbling a kick return. Christian Ponder throwing an interception in Raider territory. Ponder and Percy Harvin failing to hook up on a behind-the-line-of-scrimmage pass that was ruled a fumble for a ten-yard loss… Things got out [...]
Adrian Peterson has been remarkably durable during his career despite his ferocious running style, but today that may have all caught up to him. While running for extra yardage early in the 2-7 Vikings’ more-or-less meaningless tilt with the Raiders, Peterson was tackled and had his ankle bend awkwardly under a defender. Peterson started getting up but quickly went to his knees. Trainers had to help Peterson off the field and he was ultimately driven to the locker room on a cart. We await an update on Peterson’s condition but for now his return to the game is questionable. All [...]
