Downtrodden Vikings Have a Chance to Derail Packers’ Perfect Season

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 10 Comments

The Green Bay Packers are trying to do something this year that only one other team in history has ever done: Go 16-0 in an NFL regular season. If they succeed in this, they will have a chance to join the vaunted 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only two teams to ever run the table all the way through the Super Bowl. Needless to say, if this horrendous perfect championship season indeed comes to pass for the Packers, it will be the worst thing that has ever happened in the history of the world. Okay maybe I’m exaggerating. The asteroid [...]

Chris Cook is No Longer Suspended, Still Won’t Play

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Vikings promised an update on Chris Cook’s status on Monday and they delivered. In a statement the team said, “Chris Cook will remain on our 53 man roster but will not participate in our football activities at this time. We have met with Chris and spoken with his agent and have agreed that currently, Chris should focus on his off the field matters.” Cook had been on the suspended list and therefore not technically on the 53-man roster, so the Vikings’ announcement amounts to an unsuspension. But obviously the team has no interest in creating a media circus by [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

The bye week gives us the perfect opportunity to take a quick look back at the first half of the Vikings’ season. Here are the top 10 storylines from games 1-8. 1. McNabb Drama The dominating storyline so far in 2011 has been the quarterback situation. We began the year with veteran Donovan McNabb, who was brought in at Leslie Frazier’s behest to provide a bridge to draft pick Christian Ponder. As it turned out, McNabb would last only six games before losing his starting job to the rookie. Whatever your explanation for McNabb’s struggles – bad mechanics, lazy attitude, [...]

Who Makes a Better Rambo: Aaron Rodgers or Jared Allen?

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings, Wallpaper/Images | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

These are the kinds of questions that can divide nations and turn brother against brother. Who makes a more convincing John Rambo: Aaron Rodgers, who dressed up as the famed Sylvester Stallone character at a Halloween party, or Jared Allen who donned the Rambo duds for a Maxim profile?

Mark Dayton, Republicans Promise to Pass Vikings Stadium Bill This Year

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Vikings | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

If you’re like me, you’ve been following the Vikings stadium saga the last few days with half-attention and a tiny bit of annoyance at the hysteria of those who insist on reacting to every minor twist of the story as if it were an earth-shattering development. Well on Thursday there actually was a fairly major development that hopefully will calm the nerves of the Chicken Littles out there. A day after it looked like the prospects for a new Vikings stadium had been dealt a fatal blow, governor Mark Dayton and GOP lawmakers gave the corpse a jolt of new [...]

Olof vs. Nils: Should the Vikings cut McNabb?

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Olof:   Why would you want to cut Donovan McNabb? Because he runs his mouth? I seem to remember a certain quarterback we had here for a couple of years who also liked running his mouth, and I don’t remember people calling for him to be cut after he no longer played. Yes I’m talking about Brett Favre. People were find with Favre standing on the sideline doing nothing while Joe Webb played. They even thought Favre might be a help to Webb. But McNabb, they figure, is nothing but a bad influence on Christian Ponder. That’s a pretty [...]

Vikings Release Stadium Statement

AUTHOR: | IN: Vikings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Earlier this evening TVA has received an email from the Minnesota Vikings on their current stadium situation. It reads… The Vikings are concerned about the turn of events surrounding a stadium solution in Minnesota. While we have been encouraged by the efforts of Governor Dayton and the four caucus leaders to seriously discuss this issue, these recent developments are very disappointing. The Vikings stadium issue has been heavily debated in the public for over 10 years. With less than 90 days left on the team’s lease, the urgency to act is on us. The Vikings continue to stand ready to [...]
